Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for the Account Payable Clerk position within the Office of Budget & Finance.\r\n\r\n\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Primary\r\nresponsibility is to perform full level of accounts payable work including\r\nentering accounts payable vouchers into Financial Management Information System\r\n(FMIS), reviews and verify transactions such as bills, receipts, invoices, and\r\nrequisitions, and research discrepancies. The incumbent will reconcile\r\ninvoices/financial transactions, and communicate with external and internal\r\ncustomers regarding incomplete or inaccurate invoices, and all the other\r\ninquiries. The incumbent will provide training regarding Account Payable Clerk\r\nfunction to other team members and serve as back up to the Accounts Payable\r\nLead performing select tasks as required. Additionally, the incumbent will\r\nprovide excellent customer services internally and externally to ensure a smooth\r\nflow of business transactions.\r\n�\r\nCandidates must possess\r\nworking knowledge of principles and practices of business and public\r\nadministration, budgeting and governmental appropriations accounting; Financial\r\nManagement Information System (FMIS); government accounting standards; accounts\r\npayable principles and practices; analytical procedures and techniques and\r\nmathematical concepts used in developing and monitoring agency budgets; In-depth\r\nknowledge and skill in analyzing, verifying, and reconciling financial records,\r\ntransactions, reports, requisitions, and all other financial documents; excellent\r\ninterpersonal, written, oral communication and analytical skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft, Google Suite,\r\nWorkday, Financial Management\r\nInformation System (FMIS), or other relevant financial\r\nsoftware.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications.\r\n1)�A�Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance,�or a related field�from an accredited college or university.�\r\n2)�Possess a working knowledge of payable procedures.�\r\n3)�Possess one or more years of experience with the State's FMIS accounts and policies.�\r\n4)�Possess one or more years of experience working in a government fiscal office.\r\n\r\n\r\n
