The Company’s head office is in Irving, TX and the castles are in Kissimmee, FL, Buena Park, CA, Lyndhurst, NJ, Schaumburg, IL, Dallas, TX, Myrtle Beach, SC, Baltimore, MD, Atlanta, GA, Scottsdale, AZ and in Toronto, Canada.


Job Summary: The position reports directly report to CFO. The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Accounting Department and works hands-on with an experienced Financial Manager on the preparation of consolidated monthly financial statements with analysis, and supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the implementation for the Company’s financial plans and policies and its accounting practices as set by the CFO. The position works closely with all Corporate Executives and castle General Managers on matters of general accounting, internal audit, cost and budgetary controls, and earnings growth initiatives. 


Essential Functions:

Financial Controllership:

  • Establish and manage Company’s financial reporting policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the Company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all Company transactions and assets.
  • Prepare and publish consolidated financial statements each month.
  • Manage the entire year-end audit process with contracted Big 4 firm. 
  • Assist and coordinate primarily with CFO and SVP Marketing, on the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
  • Furnishes useful and timely reports to internal stakeholders regularly and to external stakeholders as necessary. 


Financial Operations:

·        Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

·        Identify and lead process improvements to automate and streamline current accounting and reporting procedures intended to tighten reporting deadlines and maximize the contribution toward strategic business goals.

·        Actively attend to and report on cash flow management objectives.


Risk Management:

  • Work with CFO, Company insurance brokers and underwriters on evaluation of required insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Is actively involved in claims management and reviews.
  • Provide necessary financial information at policy renewal and participate in all renewal negotiations.
  • Assist CFO and HR in planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.


 People Management

  • Collaborate with, mentor and develop the Finance/Accounting team using a supportive hands-on approach; assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results. 
  • Be responsible for evaluating the performance of an accounting team of ten or more. Recommend training requirements to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet Company needs and objectives.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with all levels of management within the Company.
  • Experience with managing the relationship with outside financial service partners including treasury management, lending institutions, insurance providers, tax and audit partners.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA in Accounting or Finance – CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred. 
  • 5-8 years’ experience in providing financials in accordance with US GAAP, producing an annual budget and a proven record of cost control.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state financial/tax regulations and able to respond to information and requests from Big 4 firm who prepare returns and advise on all income tax matters.  
  • Strong planning, forecasting, problem solving, analytical and technical skills; must have the ability to achieve operational excellence independently and with others.
  • Experience and knowledge of ERP Systems: Microsoft NAV experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel, Word, Outlook.
