Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this\r\nclassification exists is provide advanced, competition level gymnastics\r\ntraining and development to girls and boys.\r\nAlthough incumbents may initially be assigned to specific teams/programs,\r\nthese assignments may change as the needs of the facility change.� The primary work responsibilities of this\r\nposition are:� coaches the boys and/or\r\ngirls gymnastics optional teams using informational sources, trains others in\r\nthe instruction of compulsory team programs and general gymnastic classes for\r\nboys and girls using informational sources, oversees the team programs for\r\ncompetition using sources, and performs various administrative and gymnastic\r\nrelated duties. The Gymnastics Recreation Leader II differs from the Gymnastics\r\nRecreation Leader I in that the II level is responsible for more advanced\r\ntraining and development of gymnastics skills and assists the Gymnastics\r\nSupervisor with facility operations while the I level is responsible for the\r\ntraining and development of beginning and intermediate skills.� Incumbents work as a team with other\r\nrecreation leaders and special pay instructors who are all supervised by the\r\nGymnastics Supervisor.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. and two\r\n(2) years of experience teaching and/or coaching competitive gymnastics for\r\nregional and/or national qualifiers.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:�Qualifying\r\neducation, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge,\r\nskills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Alabama’s\r\ndriver’s license as needed to travel to meets.\r\nMust be available to attend all program related competitions and\r\nperformances which may include after hours and weekends.� Must be able to work irregular hours and on\r\nweekends for competitions and performances.\r\nMust be registered and maintain registration with the USAG (USA\r\nGymnastics) and receive and maintain the Safety Certification within the\r\nprobationary period.\r\n\r\n\r\nPHYSICAL ABILITIES:�This position requires; the ability\r\nto sit or stand for extended periods of time, hand eye coordination, spotting\r\nand lifting athletes of various ages and sizes, with physical manipulation of\r\nskills for recreation training, instruction, and coaching.\r\n\r\n
