Monarch Manufacturing, Inc.’s Door Department’s Door Builders are responsible for ensuring that all door panels and doors meet company standards before they are moved to the next stage in the cabinet-making process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Read and comprehend order paperwork and blueprints.
- Identify different materials and wood species.
- Use a Shaper Sander and change sander heads.
- Use various saws (table saws, Razor Gage, etc.).
- Use various machines (Clamp Carrier, Pillar, Planer, Miter (MMTJ), Widebelt, Hinge Borer, etc.)
- Sand product down using hand sanding, orbital sanders, or an Edge Sanding machine.
- Use templates to create custom arches.
- Assemble doors with the panels.
- Perform edge staining on the product if needed.
- Check the product measurements to be accurate with a Portable.
- Dedication to keeping a clean and well-stocked working environment.
- Cross-train in other areas during department downtime.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, consistency, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
- Attention to small details.
- Measuring skills on a tape measure to the nearest 1/16th of an inch.
- Basic mathematical understanding.
- Listening and communication skills.
- Teamwork.
- Punctuality.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Prior woodworking or cabinetry experience is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, or stepstools on an occasional basis.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces on an occasional basis.
- Remain constantly standing/sitting in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
- Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one workstation to another on an occasional basis.
- Adjusting or moving objects of varying weights in all directions.
- Constant movement of objects up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional movement of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Constant repeated motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Constant operation of machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment on an occasional basis.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to high temperatures during summer months.
- Occasional exposure to noisy environments.
- Occasional exposure to airborne particles, specifically sawdust.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, specifically chemical hazards in the form of glues, solvents, stains, and wash coats.
JOB LOCATION:
Sullivan, Illinois.
PAY SCALE:
$18.00 to $22.00 an hour.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. (40 hours a week).
Mandatory overtime is determined on a day-to-day basis.
