Position Summary
This role is responsible for defining and executing the strategy, governance, and business oversight of Wealth Management financial data to ensure accuracy, accessibility, security, and regulatory compliance while enhancing client and business outcomes. Serving as the Product Owner for the Wealth Management Middle Office, the firm's horizontal financial data platform, this leader will drive the product roadmap, prioritize strategic initiatives, and govern the delivery of the platform's book of work. The role is accountable for evaluating and managing stakeholder demands, balancing business priorities, regulatory requirements, and organizational impact to optimize platform value and adoption. Reporting to the WM Data Platforms organization, this leader will partner closely with technology teams responsible for data infrastructure, architecture, and engineering to align business objectives with technology capabilities. The role will champion enterprise data governance, data quality, and operational excellence while enabling consistent, trusted, and scalable financial data across Wealth Management.
Responsibilities
* Define and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for Wealth Management financial data platforms
* Act as Product Owner for the WM Middle Office financial data platform, overseeing prioritization, funding alignment, and delivery of business initiatives.
* Establish and enforce data governance standards, controls, and policies to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
* Partner with technology, operations, finance, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with evolving business needs.
* Evaluate and prioritize incoming requests based on strategic value, business impact, risk, regulatory obligations, and resource capacity.
* Drive adoption of standardized financial data solutions to support reporting, analytics, operational processing, and client experience initiatives.
* Provide business leadership and oversight for enterprise financial data assets, ensuring consistency, transparency, and scalability across the Wealth Management organization.
* Ensure business alignment with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and financial industry requirements (e.g., SEC, FINRA).
* Partner with compliance and technology teams to mitigate data-related risks and implement appropriate security measures.
* Lead data audits, reconciliations, and remediation efforts from a business perspective, ensuring adherence to internal and external regulatory requirements.
* Work closely with technology teams responsible for data platforms, providing business requirements and strategic direction for enhancements.
* Advocate for data-driven innovation, leveraging AI, automation, and advanced analytics to drive insights and improve wealth management solutions.
* Collaborate on the development and implementation of data architecture improvements, ensuring they align with business needs.
Experience
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
* 8+ years of experience in wealth management, data strategy, or business-driven data management.
* Strong understanding of wealth management business, financial instruments, market and reference data
* Experience leading data governance, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making
* Ability to partner effectively with technology teams on data architecture, analytics, and system enhancements.
* Excellent leadership, communication, relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
* 4+ years of people management experience.
* Experience defining data quality requirements, business rules, metadata standards, and governance controls.
* Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies to document business requirements, manage sprint planning, track delivery progress, and support release management activities.
* Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and cloud-based data solutions.
* Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data issues into business strategies.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $250,000 and $450,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
