Mission Architecture Intern (Summer 2027)

Summer internships will range between the months of May and September depending on university schedules. Internship is full-time and on-site in Woodbridge, VA.

The Mission Architecture team designs and validates constellation architectures that meet customer needs, and carries them through proposal to contract award using Muon's technical roadmap and building blocks. The team’s primary responsibilities include constellation modeling, trade studies, authoring technical responses, and shaping internal and external requirements. Responsibilities

• Take ownership of or contribute to the constellation solutions or simulation tool development.
• Conduct analysis and writing technical reports to support both roadmap development and responses to customers RFI’s and RFP’s
• Leverage software tools and/or writing code to explore engineering trade studies and answer system design questions.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills
• Dedication to drawing conclusions based on the most important factors and data available
• Software skills in one or more of Python, Julia, Matlab, C, C++
• Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week
• Willingness to travel to Muon and customer facilities to support in-person meetings and presentations (<20%)

This position requires access to export controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency. The Company may, for legitimate business reasons, decline to pursue any export licensing process.

• Previous internship or co-op experience 
• Previous experience on technical project teams (i.e. Rocket club, formula SAE, solar car, etc.) 
• Experience with proposal writing or working with customers 
• Experience supporting science teams to develop missions
• Spacecraft and/or constellation design, build or operations experience
