Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Aerospace Vehicle Equipment Lead Systems Engineer (level 3/4) to join its team. This position is in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
The selected engineer will be responsible for multiple tasks pertaining to environment (hostile, induced, etc.) requirements management for the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Segment including:
- Decompose AVE Segment level requirements into lower-level requirements as appropriate, based upon service life, use case, and CONOPS.
- “Own” the environments for AVE equipment; add derived environmental figures/tables when analyses are performed to the appropriate Environmental Criteria Document
- Review internal and external vendor performance specifications and verification methodology
- Support internal and external (vendor) Design Reviews
- Supporting AVE Test engineers to develop their test procedures to ensure correct requirements interpretation and verification
- Review COTS to ensure meeting environmental requirements; identify deficiencies and recommend delta qual testing to verify compliance
- Participating in Test Plan, Procedure, and Report peer reviews
- Witness testing as the AVE Environments Engineer
- Review Workmanship or Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) procedures; approve vibration and thermal cycle surveys
- Support MRB/FRB as predicated during testing and screening events
- Develop and review requirements, verification methods, descriptions, plans, and architecture for AVE
- Participating in investigation of early issues and findings to understand if requirements are impacted, and to support criticality adjudication
- Coordinating with REs and System Test to ensure integrated functions are ready for the test team to formally verify.
- Interface with vendors and customers
- Ability to travel to CONUS test locations ~25%
Requirements
~1 min read- T03: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
- T04: 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope (< 6 yrs), with an ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 Natural and Induced Environmental Test Methodology (and tailoring), MIL-HDBK-344, MIL-HDBK-310, SMC-S-016, RCC 319, DOORS v7.X
- Familiarity with Commercial and Industrial test methods (IEC 60068, RTCA DO-160, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
- Active U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance (or the ability to obtain it) with SAP approval capability.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing: Experience with climatic, vibration, mechanical/ pyroshock testing; understanding underlying principles, sensor placements and importance.
- 2+ years of requirements management and/or experience with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience in various portions of the systems engineering "V" (i.e. allocation of requirements, verification of requirements, etc.)
