Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Sr. Principal Cloud Engineer who will take part in the design, build, deploy, and maintenance of cloud-based systems and infrastructure to help the Digital Ecosystem Segment store data, run applications, and manage IT services efficiently and securely in a hybrid on-premise & cloud based environment. This role will be located in Roy, Utah.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure using IaC principles.

Take part in developing and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.

Assist in automating operational processes and implementing the best tools and technologies to support development and operations.

Help to enforce best practices for system security and compliance holistically throughout the environment.

Support incident response efforts, including root cause analysis, to resolve system issues, and implement preventative measures.

Proactively monitor cloud systems for performance, security issues, and potential problems, then implement solutions to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.

Use scripting languages to automate routine administrative tasks, improving efficiency and reducing human error.

Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance

Requirements

Proficiency in AWS cloud platform Infrastructure management & services.
Strong experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or equivalent.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
Experience or strong understanding of networking with Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Load Balancers, DNS, Firewall Rules, and Security Groups.
Experience with secrets (ex. Hashicorp Vault) and artifact management (Nexus, Harbor)
Experience and understanding of working within DoD cybersecurity compliance guidelines.
Detailed and team oriented with excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
