NDI Maintenance Machinist

Responsible for machining required parts/details to stated dimensions per drawings and/or verbal requests.

• →Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
• →Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
• →Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on manual machines such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill sharpener, tool post grinder and shapers
• →Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut
• →Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine as required
• →Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
• →Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings
• →Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
• →Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly - Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
• →Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts
• →Operates metal cutting band saws and chop saws
• →Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be machined or fabricated
• →Confers with Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Techs, Engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or related problems

• 3-5 Years of Machining or a related field
• High school or Trade school machine shop diploma or equivalent
• Must work with moving mechanical parts
• Able to work overtime and any schedule needed for production support
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly if necessary
• Able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to sit, kneel, squat or bend, for long lengths of times
• Ability to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
