Status: Full time, permanent

Salary: $60,000-75,000 per year

Summary:

The Finance / Treasury Analyst supports the organization's treasury, financial planning, and reporting functions with a focus on cash management, restricted fund oversight, and nonprofit financial operations. This role is responsible for maintaining banking relationships, ensuring proper stewardship of restricted and grant funds, coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes, and preparing financial reporting for leadership and the Board.

 

Essential Functions:

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Maintain banking relationships, including coordination with financial institutions and support for account administration and services
  • Monitor daily cash balances and ensure adequate liquidity across operating and restricted accounts
  • Ensure proper segregation, tracking, and reporting of restricted cash funds in accordance with donor intent and grant requirements
  • Transfer funds between operating, restricted, and designated accounts as appropriate to support organizational needs and compliance requirements
  • Assist in managing cash flow timing related to grant funding, contributions, and program expenditures

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Coordinate the annual organizational budgeting process, including gathering inputs, maintaining templates, and facilitating consolidation
  • Coordinate quarterly forecast updates and maintain financial projections
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide insights to leadership

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package for the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
  • Develop and maintain reporting that clearly communicates financial performance, including program-level and fund-level reporting
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy between internal financial reports and external reporting requirements

Analysis & Decision Support

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support organizational operations, programs, and strategic initiatives
  • Analyze trends in revenue (donations, grants, earned income) and expenses
  • Support leadership in evaluating financial sustainability and program performance

Process, Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain documentation of treasury, budgeting, and reporting processes and procedures
  • Support internal controls related to cash handling, fund restrictions, and financial reporting
  • Assist with audit requests related to cash, grants, and financial planning activities
  • Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work cross-functionally with accounting, development, and program teams
  • Support alignment between financial data, donor reporting, and program outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, forecasting accuracy, and cash management practices
  • Stay current on nonprofit finance trends, fund accounting practices, and compliance requirements

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in finance, treasury, FP&A, or nonprofit accounting

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in nonprofit finance, fund accounting, or grant management
  • Familiarity with restricted fund tracking and donor compliance requirements
  • Experience coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Experience preparing financial reports for boards or leadership teams
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (especially Excel) and financial systems

 

Required Competencies:

  • Understanding of nonprofit financial management, including restricted funds and grant compliance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate financial data for non-financial audiences
  • Collaborative and solution-oriented mindset
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving
