Reports To Director of Clinical Services and Campus/District Special Education Administration.
Primary Purpose Provide psychological services to support the academic, behavioral, emotional, and linguistic needs of bilingual (Spanish-speaking) students in Texas schools. The Bilingual LSSP will conduct culturally and linguistically appropriate psychoeducational evaluations, support ARD/IEP processes, and consult with families and school teams to ensure equitable access to services in compliance with IDEA, Texas Education Code, and district policy.
Qualifications
Education/Certification - Master's or Specialist degree in School Psychology from an accredited program - Current, active licensure as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) - Must meet all state requirements for providing psychological services in Texas schools - Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency required.
Special Knowledge/Skills - Knowledge of bilingual assessment tools, cultural-linguistic variables, and best practices for ELL students - Understanding of bilingual language development and second language acquisition - Strong understanding of IDEA, FAPE, Section 504, RTI/MTSS, and Texas Education Code - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish- Proficiency in electronic documentation systems and secure platforms.
Experience - Minimum of 2 years of school-based experience preferred - Experience working with bilingual or emergent bilingual populations required - Familiarity with virtual assessment tools and culturally responsive practices preferred .
Major Responsibilities and Duties Assessment and Evaluation - Conduct psychoeducational evaluations in Spanish and English, considering language dominance, acculturation, and sociocultural factors - Use valid, reliable, and linguistically appropriate assessment tools for emergent bilingual students - Interpret results and present findings in ARD meetings with cultural sensitivity - Prepare legally compliant, culturally informed evaluation reports.
Intervention and Support - Provide behavioral and academic consultation tailored to bilingual student populations - Collaborate on the development of culturally responsive behavior intervention plans (BIPs) - Support crisis response and risk assessments with bilingual students and families.
Collaboration and Consultation - Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including ARD, RTI/MTSS, and LPAC committees - Provide consultation and training to staff regarding language acquisition, cultural responsiveness, and bilingual eligibility - Communicate clearly with Spanish-speaking families and translate psychological information as appropriate.
Documentation and Compliance - Maintain accurate student records in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and TSBEP - Submit documentation and reports in alignment with district timelines - Remain up to date on laws and guidance related to bilingual education and school psychology.
Working Conditions - Remote or on-site work depending on district assignment - Flexible scheduling aligned to school needs and family availability - Must maintain a confidential, professional workspace for virtual services - Occasional travel to campuses may be needed.
