We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our technical and maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of electrical systems, instrumentation equipment, control systems, and industrial automation equipment.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, energy, utilities, engineering, or similar technical environment, with a strong understanding of both electrical systems and instrumentation and control systems.

  • Install, maintain, inspect, test, and repair electrical equipment and systems.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective electrical maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Maintain motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, control panels, MCCs, distribution boards, and related electrical equipment.
  • Test electrical circuits, cables, connections, motors, control systems, and protection devices.
  • Perform electrical installations and modifications in accordance with approved drawings and standards.
  • Inspect electrical equipment for defects, wear, overheating, loose connections, and other potential faults.
  • Support electrical equipment commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Carry out electrical isolation and reinstatement procedures in accordance with site safety requirements.
  • Assist with emergency breakdown maintenance and equipment restoration.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Calibrate measuring instruments and process-control devices.
  • Work with instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters and switches.
  • Maintain control valves, actuators, positioners, sensors, switches, gauges, and related instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot instrument loops and control circuits.
  • Carry out instrument loop checking and functional testing.
  • Perform calibration using appropriate test and calibration equipment.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing of instrumentation systems.
  • Identify faulty instruments and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records and instrumentation documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and industrial control systems where applicable.
  • Assist engineers with PLC and control-system fault diagnosis.
  • Test input/output signals and control loops.
  • Identify communication, sensor, actuator, and control-system faults.
  • Support automation and process-control improvement projects.
  • Assist with modifications and upgrades to control and automation systems.
  • Execute planned preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and technical faults.
  • Diagnose electrical, instrumentation, and control-system problems.
  • Replace defective components and restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Maintain maintenance records and equipment history.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend solutions.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct inspections and functional tests on electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, current, and other relevant electrical tests.
  • Conduct instrument calibration and verification.
  • Participate in equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrumentation drawings.
  • Verify installations against approved drawings and technical specifications.
  • Follow all Company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Comply with electrical safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before working on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe conditions, electrical hazards, equipment defects, and incidents.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.

Requirements

  • HND, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.
  • A relevant City & Guilds, NVTI, COTVET, or other recognized technical qualification may be considered alongside relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience as an Electrical Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, E&I Technician, Industrial Electrician, or similar technical role.
  • Experience in an industrial or process environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, power generation, utilities, food processing, chemical processing, or heavy industry will be an advantage.
  • Practical experience with electrical maintenance and industrial instrumentation is required.
  • Experience with PLCs, control systems, automation, calibration, and industrial electrical equipment will be an advantage.
