We are looking for a talented Fleet and Transport Supervisor Officer - Heavy Duty Trucks to oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, management, performance, and well-being of our professional heavy-duty truck drivers.

The FTSO plays a key role in ensuring that all drivers operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Company policies, customer requirements, and national transport regulations. The ideal candidate will be field-oriented and have a passion for training and managing people, with the ability to coach drivers, reinforce standards, and build strong relationships grounded in trust and accountability. The candidate will have ample opportunity to help shape the structure and strategy of the Company’s Driver training and management and, most importantly, will help the Company build a reputation of reliability and excellence in the market

  • Oversee the day-to-day driver activities, ensuring performance standards are maintained
  • Manage driver scheduling, including shift assignments and rotation, to ensure adequate coverage requirements
  • Maintain comprehensive driver records, including certifications, licenses, training history, and disciplinary actions, and ensure all documentation remains valid and compliant
  • Track and monitor driver activities, performance, and compliance with Nomad’s
    operational procedures and applicable transport regulations
  • Monitor and ensure drivers are consistently achieving their KPIs by conducting regular performance reviews and providing feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular driver assessments, providing feedback and coaching to address performance gaps
  • Work closely with Transport Officers and Fleet Maintenance Team to ensure drivers are properly assigned, supported, and equipped for successful execution of their responsibilities
  • Address driver issues and concerns, fostering positive relationships and maintaining high morale among drivers
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, accidents, or operational challenges involving drivers, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare regular reports and performance summaries related to driver management and development. Maintain comprehensive driver records, including certifications, licenses, training history, and disciplinary actions
  • Collaborate with Management and HR to identify driver staffing needs
  • Lead the recruitment process, including sourcing CVs, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and checking references
  • Oversee the onboarding of new drivers – such as documentation, uniform issuance, introduction to company systems and policies
  • Assign new drivers to appropriate trucks based on experience and company needs

Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university
  • Possession of a valid Class F driver’s license and demonstrated heavy-duty truck driving experience is an added advantage
  • Proven experience in driver supervision, driver training, and heavy-duty truck operations is an added advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and positively influence drivers and driver teams effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple drivers simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must speak and write Proficient English
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Transport Management and tracking software is an added advantage
  • Must be able to travel within Ghana as required
