We are seeking a Product Development Mechanical Engineer to support the design and improvement of power distribution and power protection equipment. This position works with cross-functional teams to develop mechanical designs, build prototypes, support product improvements, and ensure products meet customer expectations, manufacturing requirements, and industry standards.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative engineer with experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and product development.
Develop mechanical designs and engineering documentation for new and existing power protection products, including Switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Power Panels.
Work with engineering, production, supply chain, service, and other departments to deliver projects on schedule and meet design objectives.
Participate in design reviews by evaluating concepts, recommending improvements, and implementing design changes.
Create mechanical prototypes, support prototype fabrication, and lead design improvements based on testing and evaluation.
Manage smaller engineering projects independently while coordinating required engineering activities.
Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure products are practical to build and support throughout their lifecycle.
Support engineering change notices (ECNs), product customization, lifecycle management, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
Prepare and maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the product development process.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 2 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
Knowledge of power protection equipment and data center applications.
Understanding of electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, as they relate to power distribution products.
Minimum 2 years of experience using SolidWorks for 3D CAD modeling, including thermal and structural evaluation.
Experience using PLM software is a plus.
Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Experience with Switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panel designs.
Experience designing or supporting engineering test fixtures is a plus.
Technical writing experience is beneficial.
Strong mechanical design and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Starting salary from $60,000 annually, with higher compensation available depending on experience.
