Equity Research Analyst

A well-established financial planning and investment management organisation specialising in retirement wealth services is seeking a Equity Research Analyst to join their investment team in Cape Town. Operating within a high-growth learning environment, the successful candidate will conduct deep-dive research into both local and global listed companies, develop intricate financial models, and convert complex market data into actionable investment insights. This role provides regular interaction with portfolio managers and internal financial advisory teams, supporting overall portfolio construction, model-portfolio reporting, and the continuous evolution of the firm's research processes through innovative technologies. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive fundamental equity research and build detailed financial models for South African listed companies. Prepare clear, data-driven presentations and investment reports for the internal Investment Council and Trust Officers. Maintain, update, and manage local and offshore model-portfolio reporting structures. Oversee and update the approved investment universe data and internal equity cheat-sheets. Deliver performance, risk, and investment attribution reporting. Support daily portfolio operations, client-portfolio administration, and actively contribute strategic ideas to model portfolio discussions. Expand and refine the structured equity research framework across screening, modeling, and forecasting functions. Facilitate the integration and practical application of artificial intelligence tools within the core research workflow. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in equity research, corporate finance, or financial auditing. Strong track record of demonstrable skills in South African equity analysis and financial modeling. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for intricate data manipulation and financial forecasting. Proven capability in designing professional slide decks and presentations within Microsoft PowerPoint. Valid, unendorsed driver's license and ownership of a reliable personal vehicle. Clear criminal and credit history records. Preferred Qualifications Completed CA(SA) designation with 3 years of post-articles experience. CFA Charterholder status (completed Level 3). Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSci) or Bachelor of Commerce Honours (BCom Hons) degree in Investments, Financial Analysis, or a heavily quantitative mathematical field.
