A prominent, premium South African lifestyle and design brand with an extensive national retail footprint, a thriving e-commerce platform, and an expanding international wholesale presence is seeking a commercially minded Assistant Finance Manager. Based fully on-site at the Cape Town head office, this position is ideal for a newly qualified Chartered Accountant looking to transition from professional audit articles into a fast-paced, multi-channel commercial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager to oversee financial reporting, strengthen internal control frameworks, and ensure data integrity across all operational channels. Standard commercial working hours apply to this role. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting: Support the month-end and year-end ledger closing procedures, maintain multi-entity general ledgers, and prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations. Assist in compiling monthly management accounts, financial analyses, fixed asset registers, and annual financial statements compliant with IFRS. Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure full compliance with all statutory regulations including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax obligations. Coordinate external audit preparations, deliver required documentation, and continuously assess and strengthen internal governance workflows. Operational Finance & Inventory: Partner with credit, debit, and stock control functions to ensure precise accounting cut-offs. Oversee inventory valuation and accounting across physical retail stores, digital platforms, and wholesale distribution networks. Process Automation & System Optimization: Maximize ERP system functionality to improve data integrity and reporting efficiency. Identify manual processes within the financial workflow and implement automated, scalable solutions. Strategic Project Support: Provide financial insights and analytical data to support business expansion, multi-channel retail scaling, and general commercial decision-making.
