About the Role
Our client is a well-established manufacturer serving the aerospace industry, supplying precision engineered components and assemblies to major OEMs and Tier-1 partners. As part of a continued growth phase, they are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead shop-floor operations at their Bengaluru manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a professional who has genuinely grown into production management within an aerospace manufacturing environment, and who understands the discipline, traceability, and quality standards that aerospace production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Own end-to-end shop-floor production planning, scheduling, and execution to meet delivery commitments (OTD) and quality targets.
Lead daily production operations across machining, assembly, and/or special-process areas, ensuring adherence to defined process plans and work instructions.
Monitor and drive key production KPIs: OEE, cycle time, throughput, rejection/scrap rates, and on-time delivery.
Manage capacity planning and resource allocation (manpower, machines, tooling) to balance workload against demand.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure production activities comply with AS9100 and applicable aerospace quality standards (FAI/AS9102, PFMEA, APQP as relevant).
Partner closely with Quality and Engineering to resolve non-conformances, drive root-cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Maintain full production traceability and documentation in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership
Directly manage and develop shop-floor supervisors, team leaders, and production operators.
Plan shift structures and manpower deployment to support production continuity.
Foster a strong safety, discipline, and continuous-improvement culture on the floor.
Continuous Improvement
Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and SMED initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Identify and lead cost-reduction and cycle-time-reduction projects.
Support new product introduction (NPI) and process industrialization activities as needed.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the key production interface with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance functions.
Report production performance, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.
Candidate Profile
Required
Minimum 5–6 years of total professional experience in a manufacturing environment, with genuine, demonstrable experience as a production manager, production in-charge, or equivalent person-in-charge role (not solely time as an individual-contributor engineer).
Prior experience specifically within aerospace manufacturing is mandatory: aerostructures, machined components, sheet metal, composites, assembly, or special processes for aerospace/aviation/defense OEMs or Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers.
Solid working knowledge of aerospace quality frameworks (AS9100, FAI/AS9102, PFMEA, APQP) and shop-floor production management practices.
Demonstrated people-management experience, including supervising shift teams and shop-floor manpower.
Based in Bengaluru or willing to relocate to Bengaluru for this on-site role.
Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline.
Preferred
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
Exposure to CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, composites, or aerostructure assembly processes.
Familiarity with ERP/production-planning systems (SAP or equivalent).
Experience supporting or leading new site/line start-up or production ramp-up activities.
Prior exposure to programs for major aerospace OEMs (e.g., Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, or equivalent).
What the Role Offers
The opportunity to take on a senior, hands-on leadership role within a growing aerospace manufacturing operation.
Direct ownership of shop-floor performance and a visible seat in cross-functional decision-making.
A competitive compensation package aligned with the candidate's experience, within the role's defined budget.
