About the Role

~4 min read

Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To power this mission, our corporate infrastructure must run with precision, integrity, and operational excellence. We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Analyst to join our Finance and Accounting team in a hybrid capacity based out of our Gainesville, VA office.

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for analytical and administrative functions related to processing the corporate payroll on a bi-weekly basis, to include account reconciliations, timesheet collection and processing, garnishments, deductions, leave processing and employee record updates. As needed, the role provides general back-up to support other finance and accounting department needs.

  • Execute full-cycle bi-weekly payroll processing for a multi-state employee base with high accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Manage weekly timesheet collection, review, and posting of labor distributions utilizing Deltek Costpoint and Deltek Time and Expense (T&E).
  • Process off-cycle payroll runs, pay adjustments, final payouts, status updates, deductions, and garnishments in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll, leave accruals, and benefit disbursements—including Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), commuter benefits, and Worker's Compensation premiums.
  • Assist in generating and distributing Service Contract Act (SCA) Fringe Benefit statements and reconciliations.
  • Maintain employee and subcontractor profiles in timekeeping and payroll systems, serving as a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and multi-state tax regulations.
  • Support the broader Finance and Accounting team with ad-hoc reporting, year-end audits, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant multi-state payroll experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 15 years of relevant multi-state payroll experience.
  • Hands-on, demonstrated experience utilizing Deltek Costpoint (version 7.2 or higher) and Deltek Time & Expense (T&E). (Note: Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required to be considered for this role).
  • Proven experience running full-cycle multi-state payroll and managing timesheet labor distributions.
  • Working knowledge of payroll accounting, account reconciliations, wage garnishments, and multi-state tax withholding laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data reconciliations).
  • High degree of discretion, confidentiality, and professional ethics when handling sensitive personnel and compensation data.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation.
  • We encourage all candidates who meet the basic requirements to apply, even if you do not have any of the following experience:

  • Experience in the federal government contracting (GovCon) industry, including familiarity with Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determinations and FAR requirements.
  • Experience utilizing UKG (UltiPro) or similar enterprise Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS).
  • Professional payroll certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
  • Prior experience supporting payroll frequency conversions (e.g., bi-weekly to semi-monthly) or multi-entity payroll consolidations.
  • Experience managing timesheet compliance and invoicing support for 1099 subcontractors.
  • The salary range provided for this position represents the anticipated base salary for successful candidates. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, security clearance level, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may be eligible for performance-based or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
