Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, client-facing implementation projects from planning through deployment and transition into business-as-usual operations. This role owns delivery outcomes across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and to a high-quality standard. 

The successful candidate combines strong project leadership, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and risk management expertise to drive successful client outcomes. They are a recognized expert within the PM function, the referral points for complex delivery challenges and you invest in the capability of the PMs around you as a core part of the role.  

Key Responsibilities 

Project Delivery & Governance 

• Lead complex, multi-workstream implementation project end-to-end. 

• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, resources, and dependencies. 

• Establish governance frameworks and ensure delivery remains aligned to agreed objectives. 

• Manage multiple concurrent projects and programmes where required, balancing priorities, resources and delivery commitments. 

• Oversee testing, UAT, deployment of readiness, transition into service, and formal client sign-off activities.  

Risk, Issue & Change Management 

• Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies. 

• Drive mitigation strategies and ensure risks are escalated appropriately. 

• Negotiate scope and change issues with clients, clearly communicating delivery and commercial impacts and helping stakeholders make informed decisions. 

• Manage scope of changes through structured change control processes. 

• Manage internal and client-side dependencies with equal rigour, ensuring commitments are clear and the impact of non-delivery is actively managed. 

• Balance clients needs, delivery commitments and commercial considerations.  

Stakeholder Management 

• Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, sponsors, and steering committees. 

• Lead governance meetings and executive-level project discussions. 

• Communicate project status, risks, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Influence stakeholders to support timely and effective decision-making.  

Leadership & Team Coordination 

• Lead cross-functional delivery teams including consultants, engineers, architects, testers, and business stakeholders. 

• Drive accountability across workstreams and ensure alignment towards common delivery objectives. 

• Mentor Project Managers and contribute to the development of project management best practices. 

• Support improvements to PM methodologies, standards, and delivery frameworks.  

Commercial & Client Success 

• Maintain awareness of project budgets and delivery costs. 

• Assess and manage the commercial implications of project decisions, risks, scope changes and change requests. 

• Protect delivery commitments while maintaining positive client relationships. 

• Support planning and delivery input during pre-sales and solution design discussions.  

Preferred Background & Experience 

• Significant experience managing complex client-facing implementation or transformation projects 

• Experience within technology, SaaS, financial services, data management, or professional services environments. 

• Proven success leading multi-workstream, cross-functional projects. 

• Experience managing project scope, budgets, risks, governance, and change control. 

• Experience engaging senior stakeholders and executive sponsors. 

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop other project managers. 

• Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.  

Desired Qualifications 

• Formal Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile certification, or equivalent). 

• Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies. 

• Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms. 

• Understanding implementation, deployment, testing, and operational transition processes. 

• Comfortable adopting AI-enabled and emerging project management tools to improve planning, reporting and delivery effectiveness.
