  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Reliable personal transportation required; mileage reimbursement provided for on-the-job driving
  • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including MMR, Tdap, and annual influenza; COVID-19 vaccination preferred), subject to applicable legal accommodations
  • Able to navigate stairs
  • Comfortable working in a home with one small senior dog and three young cats

We’re a warm, busy family just north of San Antonio, and we’re looking for someone who will truly feel like a valued part of our home. We work full-time running a business together and are currently in the office most days, with hopes of working from home more often in the future. With busy schedules and a big home, including plenty of pets, we’re ready for someone who can step in, help lighten the mental load, and bring more ease and organization to our everyday lives.

Our home is casual, loving, and full of personality. We laugh a lot, don’t take ourselves too seriously, and genuinely want the person who joins us to enjoy coming to work each day. We value open, comfortable communication and would love someone who feels at ease asking questions, sharing ideas, and checking in for feedback.

Our household includes a young adult daughter who is home during the day. She's independent and kind, and whoever steps into this role should feel comfortable and at ease with her presence. We also have four pets who are very much part of the family: a sweet senior dog and three spirited young cats that add to the dynamics of our home.

More than anything, we’re hoping to build a genuine, long-term working relationship with someone we trust, someone who gets to know our family, understands how we like things done, and feels comfortable becoming an important part of our day-to-day home life.

We’re not looking for someone to manage us; we’re looking for someone to partner with us. We have a vision for how we want our home to run, and we’re looking for someone who can help bring that vision to life and maintain it day to day. The right person will take ownership of the areas we simply don’t have the time or capacity to manage, helping lighten the mental load, stay ahead of the details, and keep our household running smoothly and intentionally. This might be you if:

  • You naturally notice what needs to happen and take initiative to get it done
  • You're comfortable in the kitchen and enjoy creating flexible, mix-and-match meal plans that take the guesswork out of dinner
  • Organization is a mindset for you; you notice when things are out of place and care enough to put them back where they belong
  • You are outgoing, a good communicator and comfortable asking questions rather than making assumptions
  • You take pride in keeping things running smoothly and taking the mental load off the family
  • You're self-directed and confident, working independently while also being comfortable communicating with the family
  • You're a team player who can shift gears when the household needs something different
  • You're warm, approachable, and able to build genuine relationships with the people you work for
  • You're comfortable around medically complex situations without making them the focus
  • You bring an easy-going, inclusive energy to everything you do

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Create and maintain organizational systems throughout the home, giving items clear “homes” and keeping those systems organized over time
  • Perform daily resets: dishes, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, manage pet hair on furniture and floors
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Assist with light guest and holiday hosting prep (guests visit a few times per year)
  • Assist with planning, packing, and unpacking for family travel
  • Proactively replace light bulbs, smoke detectors, batteries, HVAC filters, air purifier filters, humidifier, and other routine household maintenance items
  • Collaborate with the family to build a weekly meal plan for approximately 5 lunches and 5 dinners for a family of three adults
  • Batch-prep ingredients: pre-cook proteins, chop and wash vegetables, prepare snacks for easy use in meal plan lunches and dinners that the family will assemble themselves
  • Grocery shop 1-2 times per week to keep ingredients stocked and fresh
  • Be mindful of one household member's medically sensitive dietary needs; food selection and prep must reflect those restrictions
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and well-maintained
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Manage a shared household supply list accessible to the whole family
  • Track and proactively restock pantry staples, toiletries, pet supplies, and household goods
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions
  • Handle miscellaneous errands: gift shopping, donation drop-offs, returns, taking items for repair, mail sorting, and package management
  • Break down and recycle cardboard boxes
  • Handle household laundry for two family members: wash, fold, and put away
  • Special garment and linen care: steam garments as needed and ensure white items are kept separate
  • Wash and maintain linens, towels, hand towels, and pet bedding
  • Keep the laundry area tidy, stocked, and well-organized
  • Assist with occasional deep-cleaning tasks as needed (fridge, oven, baseboards) alongside or in preparation for cleaning crew visits
  • Refresh mudroom and entry
  • Tackle one ongoing organizational project per week (closets, seasonal items, storage areas, walk-in pantry, laundry room etc.)
  • Assist with light interior vehicle cleaning as requested
  • Empty and maintain litter boxes
  • Ensure automatic pet feeders are stocked and functioning
  • Vacuum furniture and pet areas regularly to manage shedding
  • Maintain pet supply inventory and flag when restocking is needed
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for scheduled vendors, including cleaners and pest control
  • Research, source, and onboard a new deep-cleaning crew; serve as ongoing point of contact and quality manager for cleaning services
  • Proactively track and coordinate seasonal home maintenance needs (gutters, HVAC service and filter replacements, etc.)
  • Maintain and clean the outdoor side patio (wipe furniture, sweep)
  • Maintain awareness of family calendar to plan 1–2 weeks ahead; not responsible for scheduling or managing appointments
  • Track and organize receipts for household expenses

To be considered for this role, please submit:

  • A short intro letter telling us a little about yourself and why this role is a great fit
  • An updated resume
  • Three professional references with current contact information
