Clinical Pharmacist General Description
This position will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications through drug utilization reviews and comprehensive clinical management services. The Clinical Pharmacist position will also work in the in-house retail pharmacy and be responsible for accurately filling medications in a timely manner. This position also provides clear and concise communication with patients, pharmacy staff, clinical staff, medical providers, administration, vendors, and insurance companies.

Clinical Pharmacist Essential Duties
- Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, 340B eligibility, and safety.
- Maintain knowledge of 340B program and compliance regulations.
- Participate in after-hours pharmacy on-call rotation as assigned by Pharmacy Manager.
- Lead Pharmacy Technicians and manage pharmacy workflow to ensure prescriptions are accurately filled in a timely manner.
- Provide counsel to patients with instructions for medication use.
- Work with the Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians to conduct SimpleSync medication adherence program.
- Work with the Clinical Pharmacist to ensure Medication Therapy Management is completed for eligible patients.
- Work with pharmacy staff to maintain accurate inventory through auditing processes and document and/or research discrepancies as necessary.
- Work with pharmacy staff to order medications and over the counter items from wholesalers.
- Bill prescription insurance and troubleshoot rejected claims.
- Provide price quotes when needed to clinical staff.
- Navigate patient electronic medical record to find demographic information, 340B eligibility information, and billing information.
- Provides telemedicine service for health center patients.
- Use electronic medical record software to communicate with clinical staff as needed.
- Work with the Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Support Specialist, and Care Coordinators to help eligible patients receive financial assistance for prescriptions when needed.
- Utilize multiple drug info resources to provide drug info to providers and/or staff.
- Navigate KMAP and Medicare platforms to assist patients with their insurance eligibility.
- Maintain established procedures concerning security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and Providers.
- Prepare required reporting as needed.
- Assist with completion of pharmacy daily checklist tasks
- Perform all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
- Perform additional duties, including Clinical Pharmacist tasks, as assigned.
Clinical Pharmacist Skills Required
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload.
- Effective and efficient time management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.
- Enthusiasm for working as a member of a team in a rapidly changing
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and
- General computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Windows, databases, graphs and the ability to write reports and correspondence by using proficient grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Must be able to document in a neat, legible manner and be able to spell medical terminology correctly.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with staff, patients, insurance companies, and vendors.

Clinical Pharmacist Required Education and Experience
- Must hold current Kansas Pharmacist’s License and in good standing;
- Must have and maintain CPR certification;
- Maintain Continuing Education as required;
- Problem solving and evaluation abilities;
- Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
Clinical Pharmacist Preferred Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in clinical patient care management;
- Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency program;
- Board certification in Ambulatory Care (BCACP).
