This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the disability sector within our Customised Employment Coaching practice. As your clients will mostly be situated in suburbs from Hawthorn to Northcote , residing in inner northern suburbs will be advantageous - Hawthorn is the office location.

Customised Employment (CE) is an evidence-based, robust and effective approach to assisting people with significant disability to achieve their employment goals and participate in the labour force.

The CE process has four distinct phases: the discovery phase identifies the person’s interest and abilities and develops self-determination; the job planning phase conducts an employment, business and cultural scan to find the best fit; the job development and negotiation phase focuses on developing relationships and person-centred employment opportunities in partnership with the employer and employee; and the post-employment support phase provides on-going post-employment supports, developing the natural support within the workplace and monitoring the employment relationship to ensure satisfaction of both the individual and the employer.

We would like a person with passion for disability services and existing knowledge of employment counselling and advocacy to join us initially on a 12-month contract in our CE practice;

• Identifying and arranging an optimal fit between the individual, the employer, the job tasks, and the supporting environment
• The ability to see things from different perspectives, creative thinking
• Delivering the Customised Employment (CE) model
• Managing all four phases of CE

• Previous experience in Employment Services, working with people with disability, or, lived experience.
• Strong labour market knowledge.
• Competent in using computers and a variety of software applications, technology and the ability to learn new systems.
• Ability in teaching others how to do something and how to translate specific behaviours and skills in each situation into general capabilities.
• Knowledge of the CE process and activities and how it differs from other employment practices and strategies.
• Knowledge of person-centred, strength-based planning techniques appropriate to job candidates with disability.

Please note, successful applicants will be required to hold a NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance and a Working with Children Check. If you have lived or worked for a continuous period of 12 months or more in another country within the last 10 years, a certified International Police Check from that country or countries will also be required. Please note that the offer will be conditional on meeting these requirements.
