Vessel Accountant

The purpose of the position is to execute all seafarers’ payables and vessel related expenses and provide support with all Accounting and Operational matters related to the need of the seafarers for claiming their SSS, Phil health, allotments slip etc.

 Position Summary:

The Vessel Accountant provides support to the Chief Accountant and the Accounting Officer with all documentations required pertaining to the allotment of the seafarers and any other accounting matters as directed by the Chief Accountant and this includes but is not limited to entry of the vessel invoices in the database and reconciliations.

In the absence of the Vessel Accountant, any one of the other Vessel Accountant will take over the task related to accounting matters.

  Qualifications:

1. Must be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Business, Finance, or any related bachelor’s degree course.
2. Must have an extensive experience in crew manning or Shipmanagement for a minimum of 2 years with previous experience holding a similar position in the Accounting Department for at least 1 year.

Core Job Functions: 

The Vessel Accountants are responsible with the following core job functions:

1. Prepare Allotment slip of the seafarers.
2. 
   Verify the correctness of the allotments received and processed.
3. 
   Prepare certificates upon the request of the seafarers as follows:
   1. 
      SSS Certificate of Contribution and other certificate/forms for availing of SSS benefits
   2. 
      Philhealth Certificate of Contribution and other certificate/forms for availing of Philhealth benefits such as CSF, CF1 and ER2 etc.
   3. 
      Pagibig Certificate of Contribution and other certificate/forms for availing of Pagibig benefits
   4. 
      Certificate of Separation

     4. The Vessel Accountant verifies/encodes/archives/updates all seafarers’ bank contributions and any other related data.

     5. The Vessel Accountant along with the Chief Accountant is responsible for the secured distribution & safekeeping of the seafarers’ bank details and contribution related documents.

     6. The Vessel Accountant verifies/encode/archives updates all seafarers inquiries related to crew loans, travel allowances, medical related expenses etc.

     7. The Vessel Accountant verifies/encode/archives updates all vessel related invoices and cooperate with the relevant department for the approval process.

     8. The Vessel Accountant checks and calculates the seafarer’s monthly contributions and reports same to the Accounting Officer or Chief Accountant.

     9. The Vessel Accountant prepares necessary reports for billing purposes and reports same to the Accounting Officer or Chief Accountant.

     10. The Vessel Accountant is in charge for safekeeping and updating of allotment slips and accounting supports.

     11. The Vessel Accountant coordinates with the MGA Controller for the process of allotments, balance of wages and any other query of the seafarers o their allottees pertaining to the same.

     12. Carry out any other tasks pertaining to the accounting daily matters as directed by Accounting Officer or Chief Accountant.
