Construction Carpenter
Reporting to the Lead Foreman, the Carpenter is responsible for building erecting, repairing, constructing forms, and structures made from wood, steel, concrete, and other construction materials as needed for the completion of various construction projects. They will assist the Lead Foreman as required and liaise with the safety officer, internal project team and other core trade contractors as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Required:
- Successful completion of carpentry apprenticeship and/or Red Seal certification.
- Physically fit and able to work on your feet 8-10 hours per day. You need physical stamina that allows you lift, climb, stand, or bend for long periods of time.
- Proficiency with reading and interpreting various computerized construction design programs.
- Good understanding of construction process and project delivery sequences.
- Basic knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada.
- Good math skills to be able to solve problems quickly and accurately.
- Basic computer skills. Ability to use a smart phone and share information through apps or other software programs.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Criminal record check.
- Willingness to travel.
Duties:
- Follow directions and perform tasks as directed by Carpenter or Lead Foreman.
- Responsible for keeping worksite, including all trailers, clean and safe. Ensure project sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards. At the end of each day ensure site is clean, tidy, tools and equipment stored and locked in appropriate sea cans.
- Assist Carpenter with measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Assist with building foundations, erect insulated metal panels, erect walls, install insulation and vapor barrier.
- Assist with fitting and installing doors + windows and hardware.
- Assist with concrete formwork and understand the basics of concrete slab construction.
- Perform basic carpentry tasks.
- Load and unload construction materials and move around the worksite.
- Capable of operating, maintaining and occasionally repairing power tools, hand tools, and other tools and machinery.
- Experience with forklift and | or MEWP considered an asset.
