Construction Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with extensive design-build experience to oversee and manage all phases of projects from conception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both design & project management, with a focus on coordinating between architects, engineers, trade-contractors, internal project & design teams and clients to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your role will also involve managing resources, communicating with stakeholders, and resolving any issues that may arise during construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Lead the design-build process, coordination between client, consultants, trade contractors, design & project team to develop the designs, schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, owner, and other stakeholders to ensure project designs meet client expectations and comply with all regulatory requirements.

 

Project Management:

  • Understand the project scope and schedule in detail in order to lead project teams, trade-contractors, consultants and suppliers from project initiation to completion.
  • Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring work is performed according to design specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Identify critical path issues, set realistic goals and timelines, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate risks, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and budgets.
  • Work with project and site teams to ensure timely arrival of products and trade contractors to maintain project schedules.
  • Organize and manage regular stakeholder meetings.


Leadership & Problem-Solving:

  • Serve as the go-to leader for resolving issues, making quick decisions, and ensuring that all team members are informed, aligned and motivated to achieve project goals.
  • Drive the success of our projects through strong leadership and proactive problem-solving.

 

Relationship & Stakeholder Management:

  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders and surrounding communities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Collaborate closely with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

 

Resource Coordination:

  • Ensure all necessary resources (trade contractors, site crew, materials) are available to meet project milestones and address any challenges.
  • Participate in the selection of qualified contractors and service providers.

 

Contract Execution:

  • Lead the technical execution of contracts, ensuring quality work and timely documentation of any changes.
  • Participate in procurement and negotiate trade contracts to secure cost-effective services and materials.

 

Quality Assurance & Control:

  • Oversee quality control on-site, ensuring qualified supervision is in place and that all work meets high standards of quality.
  • Conduct regular site visits to review progress and ensure adherence to quality expectations.

 

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, monthly, and year-to-date reports to ensure transparency and progress tracking.
  • Organize and manage stakeholder meetings, maintaining thorough documentation, including meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes.
  • Track spending against budget, report variances, and approve invoices and payroll.

 

Site Visits & Project Evaluation:

  • Travel regularly to job sites to review progress, meet with stakeholders, and evaluate project status.
  • Regularly evaluate project progress, address mistakes, and provide updates to the Project Delivery Team Lead.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Deep understanding of construction process, methods and materials.
  • Familiar with architectural and engineering design principles to bridge gap between design and construction.
  • Ability to lead and manage project teams, consultants, trade contractors, suppliers and owners. Strong decision making skills to address issues swiftly and keep project on track.
  • Ability to foresee potential risks or issues and develop plan to mitigate or resolve.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Competent in managing budget and controlling costs.
  • Demonstrates honesty, transparency and integrity at all times.
