The Temporary Loan Servicing Partner - Title Specialist will thrive in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional service. In this role, you’ll manage all aspects of vehicle title documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. You’ll be a key player in protecting our assets and supporting our members and internal teams.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage the process of all vehicle title documents ensuring accuracy with fees, taxes and registration in alignment with state laws.
- →Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies or issues in security documentation that may impact members or expose the credit union to risk.
- →Support Lending staff by collaborating with DOL/DMV to obtain quotes for up-to-date fees and taxes by state and county, as needed.
- →Support Member Solutions staff with title releases, AILOTs, and similar documentation for claims related to repossessions.
- →Maintains working knowledge of title handling, terminology, practices, and state laws to ensure accuracy and completeness of title documents.
- →Analyze complicated situations, apply functional principles, and recommend solutions that align with the credit union’s mission and core values.
- →Handles fast-paced environment with a critical thinking approach to resolve high-impact issues while meeting all SLAs.
- →Follow-up on unperfected titles with members, dealerships, and fintech partners, as needed, through various communication channels. Maintain records of communication.
- →Monitor unperfected titles over 45 days from loan origination. Ensure proper reporting mechanisms are in place to identify by dealership and fintech partner to uncover any trends or specific areas of concern. Report such concerns to leadership.
- →Monitors dealership activity for potential fraud or illegal practices and escalate to Loan Servicing manager.
- →Process lien releases and reconveyances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- →Provide title support via Teams, email or phone, both internally and externally.
- →Collaborate with members, staff, and government agencies to facilitate state-to-state title transfers.
- →Stay abreast of current state fees, documentation requirements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and provide accurate information.
- →Demonstrate SCU core values.
- →Cross-functional collaboration with Loan servicing team to ensure cross-training and scalability for the team.
- →Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in title processing at a financial institution, state DOL/DMV office or sub-station.
- Knowledge of state licensing policies and requirements.
- Experience in preparing payoff quotes, lien releases, and reconveyances.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong focus on compliance and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively assist members with loan inquiries, issues, and information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
- Comfortable working in a performance-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Maintains confidentiality and a high level of professionalism.
- Financial Institution background.
- Familiarity with loan servicing systems, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to evaluate information, calculate payouts, and assess coverage gaps with accuracy.
- Familiarity with Dealertrack (electronic titling system)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written — able to explain complex insurance or loan topics clearly.
Ability to understand loan products, loan processing procedures, and regulatory requirements governing a loan servicing team.
- This is a hybrid role with primary work performed remotely. Working from our headquarters office in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State will be required one day per week.
- Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars.
- The nature of work may include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Compensation is based on the candidate's geographical location, calculated based on an adjustment factor from Seattle area market compensation.
