Singularity is an aerospace and defense startup headquartered in Gardena, CA. Our founding team hails from SpaceX, Anduril, and Lockheed Martin, and we are backed by Joint Staff-level military leadership and several Silicon Valley firms. Our first product is a low-cost air defense system built for immediate deployment worldwide. With a world-class business development and leadership team already in place, we are well positioned to capitalize on already overwhelming demand.

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Position Type: Full-time, exempt

Career Track: Multi-site facilities lead

Travel: Occasional, primarily local/regional to support permitting, contractor, and vendor meetings

Clearance / Licensing: Must be eligible for ITAR authorization and open to future security clearance

Singularity is operating in a 40k square foot in Gardena, which today houses 65+ on-site, full-time employees, with multiple areas, including R/D, inert low-rate manufacturing, vehicle build out, machine shops, and shipping and receiving, and will expand into an adjacent 200k square foot facility. Singularity is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on individual to maintain the existing infrastructure, solve problems, and proactively execute on future projects. The right candidate will build and manage an efficient and execution focused facility for some of the highest rates in DOD history, while maintaining effective research and development. In the next year, the company plans to expand, and this role will be critical not only once the next space goes live, but throughout the buildout process.

Infrastructure and capital projects

  • →Power: service capacity, distribution, panel and feeder buildout, backup, load buildout plan.
  • →Compressed air, process cooling, HVAC, exhaust, gas, plumbing, fire protection.
  • →You scope, permit, run, and close out reconfiguration and tenant improvement projects.
  • →Equipment installation and commissioning: rigging, seismic anchoring, utility drops, acceptance testing, validation and after-sales service.
  • →Ownership over floorplan execution, and oversight of engineering area owners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in facilities, plant engineering, or maintenance management at a manufacturer. Commercial office and property management experience does not count here.
  • Working knowledge of industrial utilities: 480V three-phase distribution, compressed air, HVAC and process cooling, plumbing, fire protection.
  • You have run capital or tenant improvement projects yourself. Read drawings, pulled permits, managed contractors, closed punch lists.
  • Vendor and subcontractor management: scoping, bidding, and holding people to what they signed.
  • Both volume production and R&D or prototype environments. You understand that a pilot line changes weekly and a production line cannot.
  • Cal/OSHA general industry familiarity.
  • Comfortable with a startup budget and no existing process. You will not have the tools, the staff, or the documentation on day one. You build them.
  • Cleared facility work
  • Region relevant experience and knowledge.
  • You have built or run a preventive maintenance program. You can explain your PM intervals.
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing background: AS9100, ITAR handling, controlled area setup.
  • Cleanroom, ESD controlled, or environmentally controlled space management.
  • CNC machine tools, ovens, environmental chambers, or test cell infrastructure.
  • You have supported a large-scale plant.
  • Experience supporting a second site or a site transition. We are standing up a larger facility soon and this role will support that.
  • Navigate across an active construction site and, later, an operating energetics manufacturing campus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortably navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and scaffolding.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, heavy machinery, weather extremes, and energetic/hazardous materials, with all required PPE provided.
  • This position requires the employee to reach all areas of a 100+ acre campus, including remote process and test locations.
