Bank Compliance Associate

1. Position Objective
- Perform surveillance on a regular basis to check that SG Seoul business complies with local and internal policies.
- Update policies and procedures of compliance department
- Receive and maintain regulatory official letters and distribute it to relevant departments
Coordinate and prepare Risk Based Approach (RBA) for KOFIU reporting
2. Principal Responsibilities
The staff of Compliance supports Head of Compliance (CPLE) who is responsible for the definition and consistency of the compliance risk prevention and control framework, and for coordinating the framework aimed at preventing, identifying, assessing and controlling reputational risk.
The Compliance risks consist in:
- Financial security: know your customer (KYC); sanctions and embargoes (S&E); money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CTF), including reporting suspicious transactions to the appropriate financial intelligence authority when necessary;
- Regulatory risks: customers protection; integrity of the financial markets; countering bribery and corruption, ethics, and good conduct; compliance with international tax regulations; and data protection.
- Mycontrol: monitoring the overall Mycontrol to overwatch if the Seoul branch CPLE and employee well conducted internal policy and local regulation for AML and Regulatory risk.
- Communication monitoring: monitor communication to check if employees were complied with internal policy and procedure
- Management support: support compliance officer and adviser of the entity in managing compliance risk and resolving compliance issues
- Advisory: Support advisory work to provide relevant Act and regulation on key compliance and regulatory risks affecting their business areas, assisting business lines in the implementation of appropriate risk management solutions, provide advice to support the business in complying with the local regulation, provide opinion on TSC deals with AML/Sanctions/CSR hits
- Risk assessment: Preparing Risk Based Approach report (RBA) related to AML and annual risk assessment (COMPASS)
- Reporting: consolidating and monitoring significant compliance events in the entity: manage compliance issues/incidents, suspicious and fraud cases, client complaints following reporting and escalation mechanisms.
- Local regulatory reporting: Adhoc FSS/KRX/KFB official letter handling, submission business reports
- Committees: attend committees FCC, COMCO and LRCC. Support making committees deck, Minutes for FCC, COMCO and LRCC.
- Training: Conduct CPLE new joiner induction training
Daily Obligation
1. Receive/ Send/ distribute and manage regulatory inquiries/official letters.
2. Perform e-communication monitoring to check that SG Seoul business complies with local and internal policies.
3. Advise other departments on Compliance-related inquiries.
Monthly /Quarterly Obligation
1. Perform monitoring/surveillance on a regular basis to check that SG Seoul business complies with local and internal policies.
- Suitability checking - MARK transaction review
- Staff license monitoring
- Personal account dealing
- Monitoring on G&E expense
- Compliance training for new joiners
- General compliance control
- AML/ S&E control
2. Coordinate and prepare Risk Based Approach (RBA)
3. Weekly S&E NIL report
4. MYKRI, TALKS report
5. Follow-up action for regional/ internal departments requests
Yearly and Occasional obligations
1. Support Compliance officer and senior compliance staff
2. Update policies and procedure of compliance department
3. Introduce new/revised regulatory reporting items in 3RC committee and update
4. SWIFT Update for registry
Profile Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in banking or similar industry Compliance
- Strong Korean and English communication skills in order to coordinate with regional office and other departments
Familiar with Compliance monitoring activities over employee’s misconduct or breach of internal policies and procedures
- Understanding of banking products including financial instruments, OTC derivatives and trade financing
