Bernstein's APAC Trading business is seeking a Front Office Quantitative Analyst / Core Java Developer to join its APAC Quant and Algo Product Team. The successful candidate will work closely with traders and quantitative analysts to develop, enhance and optimize Bernstein's algorithmic trading platform across APAC markets.
This is a front-office role focused on algorithmic trading, execution performance, market data and trading system innovation. The candidate will play a key role in modernizing core components of the Algo Engine while applying strong engineering and quantitative skills to solve real trading challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and enhance core components of Bernstein's algorithmic trading platform.
Redesign and modernize the Algo Engine using robust software engineering and Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
Build and support real-time, low-latency trading and execution systems.
Work closely with traders and quantitative analysts to improve execution performance and trading strategies.
Analyze market data, trading behavior and market structure to identify opportunities for algorithm enhancement.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve development productivity and quality.
Troubleshoot production issues related to trading, market data and execution systems.
Contribute to the design and adoption of scalable, high-performance trading solutions.
Passion for financial markets, technology and quantitative problem-solving.
5+ years of hands-on software development experience with Core Java, preferably in low-latency, high-performance environments.
Strong expertise in multithreaded, concurrent and low-latency application development.
Experience designing and developing high-performance distributed systems.
Proven experience applying Test-Driven Development (TDD), unit testing, integration testing and automated quality practices.
Strong understanding of JVM internals, memory management, garbage collection and performance tuning.
Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns and clean coding principles.
Experience with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment
Ability to independently drive technical initiatives from design through production deployment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Knowledge of KDB+/q, C++ is a plus.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or another quantitative discipline.
Preferred Experience
Electronic trading or algorithmic trading systems.
Equity market structure and exchange connectivity.
Market data and feed handler development.
AI-assisted software development tools and automation technologies.
