About the company
We are an established single-family office with a 30-year operational history. Having successfully exited its UK-based portfolio companies, the group is now establishing a new, agile global structure anchored around a high-growth East African (Tanzania) portfolio, international trade, and asset expansion.
To power this next phase, we are hiring a commercially driven, highly strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a key trusted partner to the leadership team.
Role Overview
This is a pure "build-from-scratch" CFO role. You will not be stepping into an established department or inheriting legacy systems—you will be creating the entire finance function from zero.
We need a seasoned financial leader with a verified track record in capital raising, treasury management, structuring, and M&A. You must be comfortable operating end-to-end without a pre-existing finance team or ERP setup, building financial controls, and driving international expansion from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Raising & Deal Structuring: Lead debt/equity capital-raising initiatives, negotiate banking and investor terms, and support group funding for international projects and trade.
Build Financial Architecture from Scratch: Establish financial controls, reporting standards, cash-flow models, tax planning, and compliance protocols across multiple jurisdictions without existing infrastructure.
Strategic M&A & Growth: Evaluate, structure, and execute international expansion opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and portfolio investments (specifically supporting East African / Tanzanian operations).
Treasury & Fund Management: Oversee cross-border liquidity, FX management, trade finance, and movement of funds within the family office structure.
Commercial Leadership: Serve as a strategic advisory partner to executive leadership, providing rigorous financial analysis to drive commercial decisions and P&L growth.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven CFO Track Record: 10+ years of senior financial leadership experience (Family Office, Private Equity, Cross-Border Trade, or Emerging Markets experience strongly preferred).
- Hands-On Builder: Demonstrated experience designing, launching, and managing a finance function completely from zero (no reliance on large support teams or pre-built ERPs).
- Capital Raising Mastery: Direct, verifiable experience raising capital, negotiating debt facilities, or structuring private investments.
- Cross-Border Expertise: Multi-jurisdiction financial, tax, and regulatory acumen.
- Highest Integrity: Impeccable professional ethics, absolute honesty, and a lean, performance-oriented mindset.
Working Environment & Benefits
100% Remote: Work from anywhere across South Africa, Latin America, or the Philippines.High Autonomy: Direct access to principal leadership with minimal red tape.Immediate Start: Opportunity to join and start immediately for the right candidate.
