Design Concierge (P/T) - 21862
Quick Summary
item, variant, color, size, quantity and shipping address. Track orders and deliveries, update members proactively, and flag problems before members find them.
- Location: Fully remote.
- Engagement: Freelance contractor, part-time to start, about 80 hours per month (roughly 20 hours per week). There is a clear path to full-time as volume grows.
- Schedule: Shifts on US Eastern Time. Members message day and night, and weekends are among our busiest periods. We are building toward round-the-clock coverage, so we are hiring across daytime, evening and overnight ET shifts.
- Availability: Shifts are scheduled and held. This role needs your full attention during those hours, not time fit around another full-time job.
- Reports to: The founding team.
We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based consumer technology company changing how people furnish their homes. Members photograph a room and share their taste and budget. Our app then designs that actual space with real furniture they can buy, drawn from millions of pieces across leading furniture and décor brands.
When members are ready to buy, a human design concierge helps them source pieces, find savings and place orders. That is a deliberate choice. In a category full of chatbots, real people with real taste are a core part of what our members pay for.
We were founded by an architect alongside product and technology leaders from some of the world's best-known tech and consulting firms. Since launch we have designed thousands of rooms, and membership is growing fast.
About the Role
~1 min readThe concierge is where a design turns into a real room, and where our members decide to buy. Members message at all hours. A thoughtful reply within minutes is often the difference between a sofa ordered and a cart abandoned.
Behind every conversation is real execution. You will place large orders through our trade accounts with furniture brands, and the exact variant, size, finish and delivery address all have to be right the first time. A wrong order is costly for us and frustrating for the member.
We are hiring because membership has outgrown our current concierge team. This role carries both halves of the experience: the warmth and design judgment that make members feel looked after, and the precision that ensures what arrives is exactly what they chose. It starts part-time, and our early concierge hires have already moved to full-time as volume grew.
Responsibilities
~2 min readMember Conversations & Design Advice
- →Respond to members by text and email quickly and personally, so every message feels warm, clear and unmistakably human.
- →Give practical design guidance, such as whether a rug works with a sofa, what size fits a room, or which finish suits the light.
- →Answer questions about the app, membership, member savings and how ordering works.
Sourcing & Alternatives
- →Find alternatives when a piece is out of stock, over budget or not quite right, and explain why each option works.
- →Check dimensions, materials and lead times against the member's room and budget before recommending anything, since renderings are not measurements.
- →Look for the best available member pricing on every order.
Order Placement & Trade Accounts
- →Place furniture and décor orders on merchant websites through our trade partner accounts.
- →Confirm every detail before checkout: item, variant, color, size, quantity and shipping address.
- →Track orders and deliveries, update members proactively, and flag problems before members find them.
- →Support members with returns and exchanges within each retailer's policies.
Member Operations
- →Purchase and send gift cards accurately, and log every transaction.
- →Send a high volume of personalized texts and emails without template or copy-paste errors.
- →Keep clear notes so a teammate on the next shift can pick up any conversation mid-stream.
AI-Assisted Workflow
- →Use AI tools daily, including Claude Code and Codex with custom skills, to work faster without losing the human touch. Tool access and training are provided and fully funded.
- →Share what members are asking and where they get stuck, so we can improve the product and the concierge playbook.
