About the Client:
Our client is a leading cryptocurrency tax software company that helps individuals and businesses simplify crypto tax reporting and reconciliation. Through innovative technology and automation, they make it easier for users to organize complex crypto transactions, prepare accurate tax records, and save significant time during tax season.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Growth Marketer, Paid Social (Meta) to take complete ownership of the company's Meta advertising function.
This is not a traditional media buyer role where creative strategy and production are handled by another team. This individual will own paid social end to end, including account strategy, creative concepts, copy and scripting, creative production, testing, budget allocation, optimization, measurement, and overall performance.
The primary objective is to scale annual Meta advertising spend from approximately $500K to $1M while maintaining target ROAS.
The ideal candidate combines deep Meta Ads expertise with strong direct-response creative instincts. They should be equally comfortable analyzing account performance, developing new creative concepts, briefing designers and editors, reallocating budget, and using AI to automate repetitive aspects of paid media management.
Send us your resume along with a portfolio of ad creative you've personally made — the concepts, the copy, the scripts, the finished ads — and, wherever you can, the performance data behind them. We want to see what you've shipped and what it did. Show us you're the person who reads "creative-first Meta account, AI-native, $500K to $1M" and thinks that's exactly what we 've been waiting for.
Why this role exists now
We've been running paid social the old way: an agency that builds campaigns and manages the spend, with creative treated as someone else's problem. We're bringing the function in-house and rebuilding it creative-first. We need one person who can do all of it. What you bring is the direct-response instinct and the Meta chops to make a sixfigure-a-month account work. What we bring is a product hundreds of thousands of people already pay for, a warm-lead engine that runs every tax season, and a team of technologists who will build whatever tooling you need.
Role Responsibilities:
- Take complete ownership of the Meta advertising account and paid social strategy.
- Transition account management from an external agency to an internal, creative-first operating model.
- Conduct a comprehensive audit of existing campaigns, account structure, audiences, creative, tracking, and performance.
- Restructure campaigns to support rapid creative testing and profitable scaling.
- Own campaign creation, optimization, budget allocation, pacing, and performance.
- Make data-driven decisions regarding where incremental advertising dollars should be deployed.
- Maintain disciplined performance management against defined ROAS and customer acquisition targets.
- Scale annual Meta spend from approximately $500K toward $1M without sacrificing profitability.
- Own the direct-response creative strategy for paid social.
- Develop creative concepts, hooks, angles, formats, offers, and audience-specific messaging.
- Write ad copy and scripts for static and video advertisements.
- Translate performance insights into new creative hypotheses and tests.
- Brief internal designers, video editors, freelancers, and other creative resources.
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of creative concepts.
- Establish efficient creative briefing, production, review, approval, and launch processes.
- Ship and test new creative every week.
- Build a substantial creative library ahead of peak acquisition periods.
- Ensure creative strategy remains directly connected to measurable advertising performance.
- Continuously analyze campaign and creative performance.
- Form hypotheses based on account data and customer behavior.
- Design structured tests across creative concepts, formats, audiences, messaging, and campaign structures.
- Launch experiments, analyze results, and translate findings into subsequent creative iterations.
- Identify winning creative and determine when and how to scale it.
- Recognize creative fatigue and proactively introduce new concepts.
- Maintain a continuous test, learn, iterate, and scale operating rhythm.
- Prioritize testing based on expected business impact rather than activity volume.
- Own a meaningful paid social budget with direct accountability for performance.
- Manage accounts spending $50K+ per month, particularly during peak periods.
- Monitor spend, pacing, ROAS, CPA, conversion performance, and other relevant acquisition metrics.
- Allocate budget dynamically based on real-time campaign performance.
- Make informed decisions about when to scale, reduce, pause, or restructure campaigns.
- Take direct responsibility for paid social results rather than simply reporting performance.
- Communicate performance trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions clearly to leadership.
- Prepare the Meta account, creative pipeline, and measurement infrastructure ahead of the company's peak season.
- Build sufficient creative inventory before periods of accelerated spending.
- Manage approximately 80% of annual Meta advertising spend during the January–April peak period.
- Monitor campaign performance closely during periods of rapid budget deployment.
- Scale winning campaigns and creative quickly while maintaining performance targets.
- Operate confidently in a high-stakes environment where advertising decisions have immediate financial impact.
- Establish clear measurement frameworks for paid social performance.
- Define and monitor ROAS targets and other acquisition KPIs.
- Incorporate incrementality checks and other methods for evaluating true advertising impact.
- Build reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into spend, performance, creative learnings, and opportunities.
- Connect creative performance to customer acquisition and business outcomes.
- Identify meaningful trends and translate performance data into actionable decisions.
- Use modern AI tools for creative generation, research, analysis, and workflow automation.
- Build AI-assisted workflows that reduce repetitive paid media work.
- Explore agents and automations capable of pulling advertising performance data and surfacing insights.
- Develop workflows for generating and iterating creative variations.
- Identify repetitive Ads Manager tasks that can be automated.
- Collaborate with technical resources to build internal advertising tools and integrations.
- Explore opportunities to use APIs, scripts, and AI agents to improve campaign management.
- Help develop an increasingly AI-native paid media operation.
- Establish scalable systems and processes for Meta before expanding into additional paid acquisition channels.
- Apply successful creative, measurement, and automation frameworks to other platforms as the paid media function grows.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify future acquisition opportunities.
- Potentially expand into Google Ads and other performance marketing channels over time.
Requirements:
- 4+ years running Meta ads at meaningful scale, including direct ownership of accounts spending $50K+ per month, with results you can walk us through
- A real creative strategist: you can concept, write, and script direct-response ads, brief designers and editors, and produce winning static and video creative — you've done it, not just managed people who did.
- Consumer software, subscription, or e-commerce experience — you understand the economics of acquiring customers who pay you directly
- Comfortable owning a budget and being measured on ROAS, not on activity
- Genuine fluency with modern AI tools — you use them today for creative generation, analysis, and workflow automation, and you're excited to go further
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Ads experience, or interest in growing into a broader paid media role
- Experience building automations or scripts against ad platform APIs using tools like Claude Code and Codex
- Experience with AI video and UGC generation tools
- Fintech, tax, or crypto adjacency
What you'll actually do
First 60 days — before tax season:
- Take over the Meta account from our agency, audit it top to bottom, and restructure it for a creative-first testing motion
- Stand up the creative production line: briefs, concept pipeline, review cadence, and the handoffs with our in-house design and video team and any freelancers or AI tools you bring in
- Build a library of concepts for tax season — hooks, angles, formats, and audiences — so we go into January with a full pipeline, not a blank page
- Set up the measurement layer: ROAS targets, incrementality checks, and the reporting Ben and the exec team will run on
During tax season (January–April):
- Own the number. Roughly 80% of our annual Meta spend runs in these four months, and you'll be managing budget allocation, pacing, and scaling against a target ROAS in real time
- Ship new creative every week. Read the account, form a hypothesis, brief it, produce it, launch it, learn from it, repeat
- Run point on what's working and what isn't, and make the calls on where the next dollar goes
Long term:
- Scale Meta from roughly $500K per year to $1M per year without breaking the ROAS target — that is the job
- Build the AI-native ad management layer: agents and workflows that pull performance data, surface creative insights, generate variations, and automate the parts of media buying that don't need a human
- Extend what you build to other channels as the paid function grows
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hybrid performance marketer and direct-response creative strategist who does not want to choose between owning the media and owning the creative.
They have spent years managing meaningful Meta budgets and have personally seen how creative can make or break account performance. They can analyze a campaign, identify what is working, develop a hypothesis for what should come next, write the concept and script, brief the creative team, launch the campaign, and determine where the next advertising dollar should go.
They are highly accountable and care more about ROAS, CPA, and profitable growth than producing impressive strategy presentations.
They are also a builder. When they encounter repetitive work inside an advertising platform, they naturally look for ways to automate it using AI, APIs, scripts, or better workflows.
Most importantly, they are comfortable taking responsibility for a high-stakes paid social program during an intense seasonal acquisition period and want the autonomy that comes with truly owning the number.
