About Us

We are a brand platform on a mission to acquire, scale, and revitalize exceptional consumer brands in the U.S. Backed by committed capital and led by founders with experience spanning Stanford GSB, Harvard Law, Y Combinator, and Forbes 30U30, we acquire high-potential DTC brands and unlock growth through hands-on operational excellence. Our mission: build a $100M+ portfolio of beloved, performance-driven consumer brands. To get there, we're assembling a team of driven, hungry operators who want to grow fast and take on real ownership.

About the Role

We're hiring a Head of Design to lead the creative function across our entire portfolio. You'll own the visual output of Verb Energy, Scotch Porter, and Aura House, plus any brands we acquire next. That means everything from packaging and brand systems to Amazon A+ content, email, paid social, web, and print collateral lives under you. This is a player-coach role. You'll manage a team of two designers (three including yourself), set the creative bar, run the brief intake and review process, give sharp feedback on every piece of work that goes out, and roll up your sleeves to design alongside your team when the work demands it. You'll be the design partner to each of our Brand Managers and the marketing function, translating their strategy into work that moves the business. Think of this as the design equivalent of a brand CEO seat. You own the craft, you own the throughput, you own the team, and you own the relationship with the rest of the org.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership

- Lead, manage, and develop a team of two designers across all portfolio brands - Run weekly creative reviews, give specific and actionable feedback on work in progress, and hold the team to a high craft bar

- Set the standards, processes, and rituals that make a small team punch above its weight - Coach designers on craft, speed, and brand fluency across multiple visual identities - Hire, onboard, and grow the team as the portfolio expands

Creative Direction and Strategy

- Own the visual identity and design vision for every brand in the portfolio, working closely with each Brand Manager to keep brand worlds distinct and strong

- Translate brand strategy, marketing campaigns, and business objectives into creative direction the team can execute against

- Set and maintain brand guidelines, design systems, and visual standards across every brand

- Bring a strong point of view on what good looks like and defend it in the room

Brief Intake and Process

- Own the Creative Design Brief pipeline in Notion end to end, including intake, prioritization, assignment, review, and delivery

- Work deeply with briefs coming in from Brand Managers and the marketing team, push back when a brief is unclear or underbaked, and protect the team from scope creep and chaos

- Triage incoming requests by priority (A through D), assign to the right designer, set realistic timelines, and keep status visibility tight

- Manage the version control and feedback loop on every active project, from first draft to final delivery

Hands-On Design

- Design alongside the team. This role expects roughly 40 to 50 percent of your time spent making the work, not just directing it

- Take on the highest-leverage, highest-craft projects yourself, including brand identity work, packaging, hero campaigns, and anything net-new

- Set the bar through your own output and use it to pull the team up

Cross-Functional Partnership

- Be the design partner to each Brand Manager, embedded in their planning and capable of speaking to brand strategy as fluently as they do

- Partner with marketing on campaign concepting, paid social creative strategy, email design systems, and web design

- Work with operations and packaging vendors to ship print-ready files that hold up in production

- Represent design in leadership conversations and bring a creative lens to portfolio-level decisions

AI-Enabled Workflow

- Build AI into how the team works, including image generation, ideation, asset variation, and production speed

- Have a real point of view on which AI tools belong inside a design process and which create more cleanup than they save

- Develop prompt libraries, model workflows, and quality standards that let the team ship more without losing craft

Who You Are

You're a senior creative leader who can run a team and still make great work yourself. You've designed real consumer brands from the inside, you know how to translate a brief into a system, and you've spent enough time in the weeds of CPG production to know what a good die line looks like and how to hand off files that print correctly.

You're equally comfortable in brand identity, packaging, digital, and print. You can lead a packaging redesign in the morning, art direct a paid social shoot in the afternoon, and give a junior designer notes on an email layout before end of day, and the work is better because you touched all three.

You have strong opinions on AI in the creative workflow and you back them up with actual output. You've put generative tools through their paces, you know what they're good for and what they aren't, and you've already figured out where they save your team real hours.

You're organized and process-driven without being bureaucratic. You can move fast, prioritize ruthlessly, give clear feedback, and keep a small team productive across multiple brands without it feeling chaotic.

Above all, you want to own a design for a portfolio of brands, not just one. You see the upside of building a creative function from the ground up at a company that's just getting started.

What We're Looking For

- 8+ years in design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role with direct reports

- Demonstrated experience designing for consumer brands across the full stack: brand identity, packaging, digital (web, email, paid social, Amazon), and print

- A portfolio that shows range and craft across multiple brand worlds, not one signature style applied everywhere

- Direct experience leading packaging design from concept through artwork to production, including dielines, print processes, and vendor handoffs

- Strong digital design chops including web, email, paid social creative, and Amazon storefronts and A+ content

- Hands-on, opinionated experience with AI tools in a creative workflow, including image generation, prompt engineering, and integrating AI into production pipelines - Real management experience including giving feedback, running reviews, hiring, and developing designers

- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, with the ability to move between tools as projects demand

- Strong written and verbal communication in English, especially when giving creative feedback and pushing back on briefs

- Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a remote environment

Why Join Us

- A real seat at the table. You'll own design across the entire portfolio with full authority over the function. You'll work directly with Brand Managers and the founders, not buried four layers down in a creative org.

- Build the function from the ground up. Our design team is small and the systems are still being built. You'll set the standards, processes, and culture that scale across every future brand we acquire.

- The range you can't get inside one brand. Energy bars, men's grooming, luxury home fragrance, and whatever we buy next. The variety alone is the kind of portfolio most designers never get to build.

- Grow with a platform that's just getting started. We are early and moving fast. The people who join now will have opportunities that won't exist once we're bigger.
