About the Role

~1 min read

We’re growing our marketing function from one person to two and bringing our website and SEO fully in-house. We are seeking a strategic, organized, and execution-focused Digital Marketing Lead to own and manage our digital marketing efforts end-to-end.

This is not a basic social media role — this position is responsible for overseeing website management, SEO optimization, digital channels, content strategy, campaign execution, analytics, and performance reporting across all public-facing touchpoints of the business.

You will work closely with ownership to ensure the company maintains a strong, credible, and consistent online presence across multiple audiences, including property managers, general contractors, building owners, and future employees.

This role will partner closely with an in-house Content Creator who owns field capture and production, while you lead digital strategy, channel management, campaign execution, and growth performance.

You’ll be stepping into an established foundation with an active social presence, strong LinkedIn engagement (34% engagement per reach), a growing publishing cadence, and existing monthly reporting dashboards.

The ideal candidate is equal parts digital marketer, strategist, and operator — someone who can think strategically while confidently managing day-to-day execution with minimal oversight.

  • Subtle and indirect — we earn trust before asking for the sale
  • People and video over graphics
  • Authenticity, relatability, connection — community feel, never corporate
  • A balanced content mix — case studies, employee highlights, project proof, informational — always tied to our core values
EXECUTION VELOCITY
This role exists because we feel a gap between what we know and what we ship. The right person will close that gap.
  • Finishes what they start — closes loops, doesn't let things sit
  • Decisive on routine calls — uses judgment without waiting for sign-off
  • Same-week turnaround on standard updates (website edits, posts, campaigns)
  • Comfortable shipping at 80% and iterating, rather than waiting for 100%
  • Calm under pressure — moves fast without dropping balls
VALUES & CHARACTER FIT
This role represents Detwiler in nearly every public touchpoint. Skill matters; character matters more.
  • Thinks like an owner — treats every dollar like personal money; chooses long-term reputation over short-term metrics
  • Aligned with our values: integrity, craftsmanship, stewardship, people-first
  • Comfortable in a values-driven, family-led business culture
  • Knows when to say no — won't trade our name for reach or vanity numbers
  • Brings judgment, not just tactics — translates the Owner's vision into work that sounds like us
  • Honest, calm, and direct — can be trusted with the brand without daily oversight
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Website & SEO (primary)
  • Own the website end-to-end — content updates, landing pages, page builds, performance, technical health
  • Lead SEO strategy and execution — on-page, technical, and content SEO across the site
  • Drive PA-focused local SEO — Google Business Profile, citations, local landing pages, multi-location signals
  • Run keyword research and competitive analysis; build editorial calendars that target high-value search demand
  • Optimize existing pages and build new SEO-targeted content
  • Maintain site health — page speed, schema, mobile, Core Web Vitals, fixing broken links
  • Engage outside specialists for major rebuilds or deep technical work when projects require it
Channels & Campaigns
  • Plan and execute the monthly marketing calendar across all channels
  • Lead LinkedIn strategy — our highest-performing channel
  • Manage social calendars (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) in partnership with the Content Creator
  • Run paid campaigns (Google, LinkedIn, Meta) with budget discipline
  • Manage email marketing — segmentation, automation, monthly newsletters
  • Lead recruiting marketing — careers page, job ads, employer brand, application flow
Team & Reporting
  • Direct the Content Creator on shot lists, asset usage, and post-production needs
  • Surface monthly insights to Owner using existing reporting dashboards
  • Maintain CRM data hygiene and lead routing
  • Coordinate trade shows, sponsorships, and association memberships
  • Manage outside vendors and freelancers as projects require
REQUIRED SKILLS
Capability is the bar, not years on a resume. We're open to either a seasoned veteran or a strong operator growing into senior work — provided the chops are real.
  • Proven SEO results — organic traffic growth and ranking improvements you can speak to with specifics
  • CMS proficiency (WordPress or similar) — confident editing, building, and publishing without breaking things
  • Strong on-page and technical SEO — schema, page speed, site architecture, content optimization
  • Local SEO expertise — Google Business Profile, citations, multi-location strategies
  • Proficient with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Ahrefs or SEMrush
  • Basic HTML / CSS comfort — can edit and troubleshoot without calling in dev help
  • Proven LinkedIn proficiency — organic and paid
  • Strong writing in a subtle, authentic voice — credibility comes from what we don't say as much as what we do
  • Hands-on with CRM (HubSpot or similar), Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and email platforms
  • Strong project management — moves work across Owner, Content Creator, and outside vendors
  • Disciplined and self-directed in a remote role — owns deliverables without supervision
PREFERRED
  • Construction, building products, or trades industry experience
  • Conversion rate optimization (CRO) and A/B testing experience
  • Recruiting / employer branding background
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
First 90 Days
  • Operating confidently in the existing reporting, tools, and CMS; surfacing weekly insights to Owner
  • Content calendar running with no gaps
  • Website updates shipping in days, not weeks
  • SEO baseline audit complete with a prioritized 12-month roadmap
Ongoing
  • Organic search traffic measurably growing quarter over quarter
  • Rankings improving on priority keywords (commercial roofing PA, by service category, by metro)
  • Website driving measurable inquiry flow into pipeline
  • Hire-from-marketing flow established and producing applications
  • Detwiler recognized as the most trusted commercial roofer in our market
WHAT YOU'LL GET FROM US
  • Direct partnership with the Owner — weekly strategic check-ins, autonomy on execution
  • Investment in the tools you need to do the job well (SEO, analytics, CRM, automation)
  • A values-driven culture with leadership that cares about your work and your name on it
  • A clear win condition — measurable SEO outcomes, not vanity metrics
  • Compensation flexible based on the value you bring

This role is highly visible and highly trusted.

You will directly influence how customers, partners, future employees, and the market perceive the business.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to own a meaningful function, build long-term impact, and become a critical part of leadership’s growth strategy—not just “run marketing tasks.”
