We are a rapidly growing, founder-led North American company changing how hotels buy and use everyday paper products. Our sustainable paper products and purpose-built dispenser systems help hotels and hospitality groups cut waste, lower supply costs and simplify housekeeping, without compromising the guest experience.

What started with independent boutique properties now serves well-known hotel brands and hospitality groups across Canada and the United States. We are investor-backed, design-led and focused on scaling efficiently, with a lean team that values ownership and clear numbers.

About the Role

~1 min read

This role exists to take full ownership of day-to-day accounting and to be the CFO's right hand on data and analysis. As the business scales across two countries, two currencies, multiple third-party warehouses and a growing hotel customer base, the finance function needs someone who can keep the books clean and answer the hard questions at the same time.

You will own the accounting engine end to end: an on-time close, accurate inventory and landed cost, and sales tax filings done right the first time. Just as important, you will turn large, messy datasets from NetSuite, Shopify and HubSpot into clear answers on margins, dispenser economics and freight recovery that leadership can act on.

This is a hands-on role for someone who runs the books independently, meets deadlines without being chased and flags risks before they become problems.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own full-cycle accounting in NetSuite: accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, accruals, prepaids and reconciliations.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and year-end close against a defined calendar and prepare draft financial statements under ASPE.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR, inventory and clearing accounts monthly, and investigate and resolve variances.
  • Maintain fixed asset and dispenser amortization schedules, and run month-end FX revaluation of USD balances.
  • Own the close checklist, reconciliation standards and chart of accounts hygiene so the close gets faster and cleaner over time.
  • Process and code vendor invoices in CAD and USD (contract manufacturers, 3PL warehouses, freight and customs brokers), matched to purchase orders and receipts.
  • Account for inventory across multiple third-party warehouses, including landed cost (duties, freight and brokerage).
  • Reconcile NetSuite inventory to 3PL reports and resolve count and valuation discrepancies.
  • Manage vendor setup and records, and prepare scheduled payment runs for CFO approval.
  • Own the indirect tax calendar: GST/HST, provincial PST and US state sales tax returns prepared, reconciled and filed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain resale and exemption certificate records, and monitor US economic nexus thresholds.
  • Support government audits and the annual external audit, including PBC lists, lead sheets and supporting schedules.
  • Build and maintain recurring reporting: weekly sales and inventory, monthly management reporting and KPI dashboards.
  • Build NetSuite saved searches and reports, and extract, clean and reconcile data across NetSuite, Shopify and HubSpot.
  • Analyze margins by customer and product, dispenser economics, freight cost recovery, customer usage and inventory planning.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow tracking, variance analysis and board reporting packages.
  • Partner with Operations and Sales on billing, customer statements, collections, freight and warehouse costs.
  • Track AR aging and drive collections follow-up with customers.
  • Respond to customer and vendor accounting inquiries quickly and accurately.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation across the accounting workflow.
  • Document procedures so the work is repeatable and can scale as the team grows.

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years running the month-end close independently.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Experience in a product or inventory-based business, including inventory accounting and cost of goods sold.
  • Hands-on multi-currency accounting experience.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation under IFRS, US GAAP, ASPE or a comparable framework.
  • Hands-on experience with a mid-market ERP (NetSuite strongly preferred).
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets: pivot tables, XLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS and Power Query, and comfortable working with tens of thousands of rows.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Able to work consistently within 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
  • NetSuite experience, including saved searches and custom reporting.
  • CPA or international equivalent (for example CA(SA), SAIPA or Contador Público).
  • ASPE knowledge.
  • Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/PST) and/or US state sales tax experience, including nexus monitoring.
  • Cross-border and import accounting: landed cost, duties, customs brokers and 3PL warehouses.
  • BI or dashboard tools (Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau) or SQL.
  • Experience with Shopify, HubSpot or Versapay.
  • Prior experience supporting a US or Canadian company remotely.
  • Startup or scale-up experience, and an interest in sustainability.

You are:

  • An owner. You run the close without being chased and know where every number on the balance sheet comes from.
  • Analytical. You would rather answer a question with clean data than an opinion, and you can explain what the numbers mean to people outside finance.
  • Proactive. You flag risks early, not after the deadline has passed.
  • Detail-driven. Reconciliations tie out, tax filings go in on time and inventory matches the warehouse.
  • A builder. You are comfortable in a growing company where some processes are still being defined, and you document as you go so the work scales.
  • Steady under pressure. Two currencies, two tax regimes and multiple warehouses do not rattle you.
