We're partnering with an established engineering and simulation technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Tulsa-based development team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, leading software development efforts, and working on advanced simulation and training systems used in mission-critical environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and integrating sophisticated software solutions while providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Lead software engineering efforts and provide technical guidance to engineering and technical staff.
- →Analyze system requirements and develop software architecture and design solutions that meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
- →Evaluate hardware and software interfaces and define integration requirements.
- →Conduct technical trade studies and recommend optimal design approaches.
- →Identify and mitigate technical and program risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- →Translate high-level system requirements into detailed software designs.
- →Develop, maintain, and enhance software applications primarily in C/C++, with exposure to other languages such as Python, Fortran, C#, or Ada.
- →Work within Linux-based development environments.
- →Perform software testing, integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
- →Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, interface documentation, and reports.
- →Collaborate with program management, hardware engineering, manufacturing, and customer stakeholders.
- →Support deployment, installation, and acceptance testing efforts at customer locations.
- →Contribute to technical proposals and new business initiatives as needed.
While this position does not include direct people management, it does involve technical leadership responsibilities, including:
- →Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
- →Conducting peer reviews and providing technical feedback.
- →Supporting onboarding and knowledge transfer activities.
- →Promoting engineering best practices and continuous process improvement.
- →Facilitating collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- →Assisting project leadership in tracking technical progress and execution.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, simulation, modeling, or related technical development environments.
- Strong software development experience using C/C++.
- Experience working in Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of software architecture, systems integration, and software testing methodologies.
- Experience with version control and configuration management tools such as Git or Subversion.
- Understanding of networking concepts and computer system architectures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing simulation or training systems.
- Background working on complex real-time, distributed, or embedded software systems.
- Experience with Python, C#, Fortran, Ada, or other high-level programming languages.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD), aerospace, defense, or government-contractor environments.
- Experience participating in customer-facing acceptance testing and system deployments.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
- Approximately 25% travel.
- Domestic travel is expected, with occasional international travel.
- Travel may range from several days to several weeks and can include weekend work when supporting customer installations, testing, or training activities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport may be required.
- Standard Monday through Friday schedule.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts when project schedules require.
