Role: Functional Training & Capability Development
Base Location: Navi Mumbai
Reporting to: Sr Manager - Process Transformation
Role Purpose:
The Manager – Functional Training & Capability Development is responsible for establishing and governing the capability development framework for Marine Services within the Global Service Centre (GSC).
The role owns the end-to-end knowledge governance ecosystem including process documentation standards, learning architecture, training frameworks, and capability measurement mechanisms to ensure consistent and scalable operational excellence across Marine Services Operations and Finance.
The position drives the design and governance of process documentation (L5 process maps), SOP frameworks, knowledge repositories, and structured learning programs while ensuring alignment with operational practices and transformation initiatives.
The role also establishes capability measurement frameworks including skill matrices, knowledge assessments, and training effectiveness metrics to ensure workforce readiness, operational consistency, and continuous capability development across the organization.
Additionally, the role partners closely with Operations, Finance, Process Transformation, and leadership teams to support new transitions, process standardization initiatives, and change management programs through structured capability enablement.
Key Role Responsibilities:
1. Capability Development Framework Ownership
Design and own the Marine Services capability development framework covering onboarding, process training, functional capability development, and knowledge governance.
Define structured training journeys for Operations and Finance roles within the GSC.
Ensure capability frameworks support operational scalability, standardization, and workforce readiness.
2. New Hire Onboarding & Business Induction
Facilitate structured onboarding programs for all new hires joining Marine Services Operations and Finance teams.
Deliver organizational induction sessions covering DP World, Shipping Solutions, Marine Services, and general shipping industry fundamentals.
Ensure new hires gain a clear understanding of the business landscape, organizational structure, and operational environment.
3. Training Facilitation & Coordination
Facilitate functional training programs in coordination with Operations and Finance subject matter experts.
Coordinate training schedules, learning materials, and knowledge transfer sessions required for capability development.
Ensure structured training frameworks are maintained across Marine Services processes.
4. Process Documentation & L5 Process Mapping
Establish governance standards for process documentation and L5 process architecture across Marine Services.
Ensure documentation standards are consistently applied across Operations and Finance processes.
Oversee periodic review cycles to maintain documentation accuracy.
Ensure process documentation accurately captures activities, system interactions, dependencies, and control points.
5. SOP Governance & Version Control
Maintain governance of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions related to Marine Services processes.
Ensure SOPs remain accurate, updated, and aligned with operational practices.
Maintain structured version control mechanisms to track SOP revisions and governance approvals.
6. Knowledge Repository Management
Establish and maintain a centralized Marine Services knowledge repository containing SOPs, process documentation, training materials, and reference guides.
Ensure documentation is systematically organized, accessible, and aligned with governance standards.
Continuously update the repository to reflect operational changes and process improvements.
7. Knowledge Assessment Governance (PKT / KAT)
Design and administer Process Knowledge Tests (PKTs) and Knowledge Assessment Tests (KATs) to evaluate functional knowledge across Marine Services teams.
Track assessment outcomes to identify knowledge gaps and capability improvement opportunities.
Maintain structured records of knowledge assessments and capability benchmarks.
8. Skill Matrix Assessments
Conduct regular skill matrix assessments across Marine Services teams to evaluate competency levels across key operational and finance processes.
Share structured feedback with Operations and Finance leadership regarding capability gaps and training needs.
Support workforce capability planning through structured skill tracking and competency analysis.
9. Retraining & Refresher Program Facilitation
Facilitate retraining programs and periodic refresher sessions based on PKT/KAT outcomes, skill matrix results, and process updates.
Lead initiatives focused on continuous capability development, ensuring teams remain updated on process changes, system enhancements, and operational best practices.
10. Learning Content Development & Digitization
Drive the development and digitization of learning content and training modules to support scalable capability development within Marine Services.
Publish and maintain learning materials across internal learning platforms, knowledge repositories, and approved external channels.
Ensure learning content remains updated and aligned with SOP updates and operational changes.
11. Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with Operations, Finance, Process Transformation, and leadership teams to ensure alignment between process execution, documentation, and training frameworks.
Support change management initiatives by ensuring training materials and documentation are updated accordingly.
12. Training Governance & Reporting
Establish and govern the functional training strategy for Marine Services within the GSC.
Define structured training frameworks, learning pathways, and certification mechanisms.
Oversee training delivery executed by SMEs, trainers, or operational experts.
Maintain training trackers, PKT/KAT results, skill matrix records, and capability dashboards.
Provide periodic updates to leadership on training completion, capability levels, and knowledge gaps across teams.
13. Support Business Transitions & Transformation
Partner with Process Transformation teams to support business transitions, migrations, and process standardization initiatives through structured capability enablement and knowledge transfer frameworks.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge Governance & Capability Development
8–12 years professional experience in operational training, capability development, knowledge management, or operational excellence roles.
Minimum 3–5 years in knowledge governance, capability development, or operational training coordination roles
Experience designing and implementing structured capability frameworks within logistics, shipping, or maritime operations environments.
Process Documentation & Governance
Experience in creating L5 process maps and detailed process documentation.
Strong experience managing SOP governance, version control, and documentation frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement
Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Finance, and Transformation teams
Strong communication and coordination skills. Strong understanding of operational workflows within shipping, maritime services, or logistics environments.
Experience in knowledge management, capability development, or training governance roles.
Strong understanding of SOP governance, process documentation, and knowledge repository management.
Familiarity with ERP systems and operational platforms used in logistics or maritime services.
Ability to structure complex operational processes into clear documentation and learning frameworks.
Strong stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Finance, or related discipline.
- Post Graduation/MBA
- Certification in Training & Development or Knowledge Management
- Experience in shipping, maritime services, or logistics operations.
