Job Summary  

The Business Systems Analyst – Digital Banking serves as the bridge between UFCU’s digital banking product owners and the delivery teams that build UFCU’s online and mobile banking experiences. Working within an Agile framework and in support of the Product Owner, this position gathers and analyzes requirements; defines, writes, and refines features and user stories; and partners with developers, QA, and UX to implement and test them. The analyst applies strong knowledge of digital banking systems and integrations to help UFCU deliver secure, compliant, and member-centric digital experiences that support the credit union’s strategic objectives.  

The Business Systems Analyst is an exempt position and reports to the Director of Digital Banking.

Essential Functions  

Requirements & Analysis  

  • Partner directly with digital banking product owners to elicit, analyze, and document business, member, and system requirements for online and mobile banking features.  
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, requirements workshops, and stakeholder interviews with business units, Member Experience, Compliance, IT, and vendors to understand needs, constraints, and success criteria.  
  • Analyze current-state and future-state processes, member journeys, and data flows; document process maps, use cases, business rules, and non-functional requirements.  
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and integration impacts across the digital banking platform and interfacing systems, including Symitar Episys, account opening, payments, fraud, and third-party vendor solutions.  
  • Research and recommend solutions, configurations, and enhancements that optimize the member and employee digital experience.  

Backlog & User Story Management  

  • Define, write, and refine features and user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria that meet the team’s Definition of Ready.  
  • Collaborate with product owners to decompose epics and features into right-sized user stories and support backlog prioritization in alignment with the digital banking roadmap.  
  • Maintain features, user stories, and requirements traceability in Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring work items are accurate, current, and linked to test cases and releases.  
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.  
  • Serve as the requirements subject matter expert for the delivery team, clarifying scope, answering questions, and resolving ambiguity throughout development.  

Delivery, Testing & Implementation  

  • Work closely with developers, QA, and UX to ensure features and user stories are implemented as intended and meet acceptance criteria.  
  • Collaborate with UX to translate requirements into user flows, wireframes, and prototypes, and ensure designs meet usability and accessibility (WCAG) standards.  
  • Partner with QA to define test scenarios, review test cases, and support functional, regression, and system integration testing; coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.  
  • Log, triage, and track defects through resolution, and validate fixes prior to release.  
  • Support release readiness activities, including release notes, stakeholder communication, procedure and training materials, and post-release validation.  

Production Support & Continuous Improvement  

  • Analyze digital banking usage, adoption, and member feedback (e.g., analytics, app store reviews, member surveys) to identify enhancement opportunities.  
  • Track Service Level Agreements with UFCU IT and digital banking vendors, and support vendor release management.  
  • Partner with Compliance and Information Security to ensure digital banking solutions meet regulatory, compliance, privacy, and security requirements to protect the credit union and its members.  
  • Maintain knowledge of digital banking industry trends, emerging technologies, and member expectations.  
  • Work collaboratively with business units to assist in the development of projects to meet UFCU strategic objectives.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.  
  • Complete required regulatory Training as assigned.  
  • Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities  

Knowledge  

  • Strong knowledge of business analysis practices, requirements elicitation techniques, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.  
  • Working knowledge of online and mobile banking platforms, features, and member journeys (e.g., login and authentication, account servicing, transfers, bill pay, P2P, card controls, and alerts).  
  • Understanding of system integrations, APIs, and data flows between digital banking platforms, the core (Symitar Episys), and third-party vendors.  
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), QA and testing practices, and UX design principles.  
  • Proficient with Azure DevOps (or similar tools such as Jira), Microsoft Office Suite, and diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro).

Experience  

Minimum Requirements   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a business analyst, business systems analyst, or in a similar role.  
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, including writing features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.  
  • Must be bondable.  

Preferred Requirements   

  • Experience supporting online and/or mobile banking platforms.  
  • Credit union or other financial institution experience.  
  • Business analysis or Agile certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, CSPO, or SAFe).  
  • Familiarity with API documentation, SQL/data analysis, and digital analytics tools.  
  • Familiarity with retail banking laws and regulations as they apply to digital channels (e.g., Reg E, ADA/WCAG accessibility, and privacy).

  • This position requires frequently working onsite at UFCU Plaza in Austin, Texas.  
  • This position may involve periodic stressful conditions.  
  • Occasional adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours, including support for after-hours releases and production issues.  
  • May occasionally move from one work location/branch to another.   
  • Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and vendors, both in person and virtually.  
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation up to two hours at a time.
