Clinical Simulation Instructor

The Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing (SON) at the University of Connecticut invites applications to fill two full-time, 11-month, non-tenure track faculty positions at the Clinical Instructor level at our Storrs campus. Under the direction of the Director of Simulation Education, the faculty members will have the following responsibilities: supervise pre-licensure students in simulations, provide fundamentals teaching support, provide skills labs instruction, develop simulation scenarios, set up labs and simulations, post-lab cleanup, monitor simulation and lab inventory and supplies, supervise open labs for student practice, provide simulation/clinic completion and continuous improvement plans and augment support and training for the adjunct clinical faculty in the use of simulations and the Simulation Center.

1. Master’s degree in Nursing.  
2. Three to five years of clinical experience in a relevant clinical area.  
3. Current Connecticut multistate compact RN license (valid as of date of hire), which must be maintained.   
4. Demonstrated communication skills and interpersonal relationship strategies. 
5. Previous clinical teaching experience. 
6. Experience evaluating student performance in clinical training settings.  
7. Experience developing effective interprofessional working relationships. 
8. Completion of required health indicators (MMR titers, TB status, Hepatitis B, and others as required by clinical agencies) and CPR certification at the time of employment. 

1. Previous experience facilitating clinical simulations.  
2. CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator).
3. Previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education.  
4. Experience managing and directing “group” clinical training for students in baccalaureate nursing programs and/or accelerated nursing entry program.  
5. Experience with a wide range of educational strategies, including virtual and in-person simulation.
6. Current experience with direct patient care in healthcare institutions and/or community settings.  

This is an 11-month, non-tenure-track position subject to annual renewal based on program needs, funding, and performance. Successful candidates’ primary appointment will be at the Storrs campus, with the expectation that they may travel to assist at other School of Nursing Simulation Centers at Waterbury or Avery Point.  

Individuals may attain eligibility for multi-year contracts after successful completion of four (4) one-year appointments.
