Physicist - Radiation Oncology

Salary Range: $219,000.00 - $329,000.00

Under the consultative oversight of the Vice Chair of Medical Physics and Department Chair of Radiation Oncology for UCSF Health through the WHHS & UCSF Health Cancer Services JV, LLC. the radiation oncology physicist will demonstrate a high level of autonomy to perform physics-related tasks required to obtain and maintain ACR accreditation, following AAPM Task Group guidelines. This will include commissioning of new equipment, calibration of radiation producing machines and dosimetry equipment, performing machine and patient-specific quality assurance, performing external beam treatment planning tasks and designing and implementing special procedures as needed. The radiation oncology physicist will be directly responsible for the supervision and calibration of the linear accelerator, other physics issues related to assigned machines, and will assist in the acceptance testing and commissioning of new linear accelerators and CT scanners used for simulation as needed. The radiation oncology physicist accepts work from the physician(s), plans and carries out the successive steps and handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted published practices.
