The Arbor Supervisor is responsible for leading arbor operations within Des Moines and Cedar Rapids areas. This role provides direct supervision of arbor crews, manages daily production activities, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and drives customer satisfaction and profitability.


The Arbor Supervisor serves as a key member of the branch leadership team and is responsible for developing employees, executing operational plans, maintaining equipment and resources, and supporting business growth. The ideal candidate is a skilled arboriculture professional with strong leadership abilities, a passion for safety, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.


  • Champion Wright Outdoor Solutions' safety-first culture.
  • Conduct daily jobsite safety briefings and weekly tailgate meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, ANSI A300, TCIA standards, and company safety policies.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, property damage claims, and near misses.
  • Maintain required safety certifications and training records for team members.
  • Perform regular jobsite audits and field observations.
  • Schedule and coordinate arbor crews, equipment, and resources.
  • Manage tree pruning, removals, cabling, bracing, stump grinding, mulch grinding and plant health care services.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
  • Monitor labor productivity and daily production goals.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and provide corrective coaching when necessary.
  • Ensure work is completed according to Wright Outdoor Solutions standards and customer expectations.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop arbor team members.
  • Conduct regular performance conversations and coaching sessions.
  • Identify future Crew Leaders and support career development pathways.
  • Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Build a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture consistent with employee ownership principles.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Participate in customer site visits and consultations.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure customer communication is timely, accurate, and documented.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience that drives retention and referrals.
  • Identify enhancement opportunities for existing customers.
  • Support sales efforts through site evaluations and technical expertise.
  • Partner with Account Managers to grow arbor revenue.
  • Promote plant health care, preventive maintenance, and additional service offerings.
  • Assist with proposal reviews and production planning.
  • Achieve branch revenue, gross margin, and profitability objectives.
  • Manage labor hours, overtime, equipment utilization, and job costing.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and operational expenses.
  • Support annual planning and forecasting processes.
  • Use operational software and reporting tools to monitor performance metrics.
  • Position may require some outside travel 
  • During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster

Responsible for supervising employees on their team to ensure proper administration of training, employee induction and follow-up, work production and adherence to safety practices.

  • Strong knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, pruning standards, and tree risk management
  • Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, ANSI Z133, and ANSI A300 standards.
  • Ability to effectively lead multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, snow
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and ability to hand stress and multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read and complete daily paperwork
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license 
  • Five or more years of professional arboriculture experience
  • Two or more years of supervisory or crew leadership experience
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills



Other Preferred Requirements: (driver’s license, CDL, pesticide or herbicide license, CPR or first-aid certified)

  • Preferred Class A or B or higher CDL endorsement
  • ISA Certified Arborist
  • Pesticide Applicator License
  • TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP.
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Experience using Aspire or similar operational management software
