Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, YAP partners with youth justice, child welfare, behavioral health, and education systems to deliver individualized, wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.

YAP’s model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families, connecting them to local resources, and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based, culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills, meet goals, and strengthen family and community connections

Responsibilities

→High School Diploma or equivalent is required
→Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
→Must be extremely organized
→Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
→Must be professional, flexible, and have the ability to work independently
→Flexible Schedule; Must be available evenings and weekends
→Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
→Proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office; experience using an electronic health record (EHR) is a plus.
→Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
→Bi-Lingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus but not required.
→Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance coverage
