Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, YAP partners with youth justice, child welfare, behavioral health, and education systems to deliver individualized, wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.

YAP’s model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families, connecting them to local resources, and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based, culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills, meet goals, and strengthen family and community connections

Responsibilities

→Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
→Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources
→Experience working with at-risk youth and families
→Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a plus.
→Excellent organizational and communication skills
→Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage is required.
→Travel will be part of the position (Travel within local county and community to homes and school) and must be willing to transport in personal vehicle.
→Flexible Schedule - May be required to work afternoon, evening and weekend hours based on school and family schedules.
→Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is a plus.
