Postdoctoral Research Associate

Bajpayee Lab at Northeastern is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Associate to lead high-impact research in cartilage-targeted gene delivery within a fast-paced, NIH-funded and industry-collaborative environment. This position is designed for top-tier, self-driven scientists who can independently execute, manage multiple projects, and deliver at a high level.

This work integrates gene therapy, chemical conjugation, and quantitative transport modeling to engineer charge-guided delivery systems for dense, negatively charged tissues.

• →Lead multiple projects across federal and industry-funded programs
• →Design and engineer gene delivery systems using chemical conjugation and molecular engineering
• →Quantitatively analyze transport, partitioning, and binding kinetics in biological matrices
• →Conduct and contribute to in vivo studies in musculoskeletal models
• →Independently write and publish high-impact manuscripts
• →Train and mentor students while driving projects forward
• →Manage project budgets and presentations

• PhD with a strong first-author publication record
• Expertise in chemical conjugation, biomaterials, or drug/gene delivery
• Experience with quantitative modeling (transport, kinetics, or related)
• Comfortable working with animal models
• Highly motivated, accountable, and able to manage multiple projects independently

• Experience with gene delivery (mRNA, DNA, CRISPR)
• Background in cartilage, ECM transport, or polyelectrolyte systems
• Prior exposure to translational or industry-linked research
