Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen critical and fatal-risk controls across vessel, yard, rail, gate, maintenance, transportation, and contractor activities.
  • Lead or oversee serious-incident investigations, causal analysis, corrective actions, learning transfer, audits, regulatory matters, and emergency preparedness.
  • Build visible operational ownership of safety through coaching, labor engagement, practical standards, Learning Teams, Gemba, and Kaizen methods.
  • Lead and develop assigned HSSE professionals and cross-functional teams while strengthening capability and succession depth.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and senior experience.
  • Typically 8+ years of progressive HSSE experience, including leadership accountability in ports, marine terminals, logistics, heavy industry, manufacturing, energy, or another high-risk operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. occupational safety and environmental requirements, incident investigation, assurance, critical-risk management, and emergency preparedness.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional risk-reduction or transformation programs, developing people, and influencing senior operational leaders without direct authority.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card and required port credentials, support a 24/7 operation when significant events occur, and work regularly in active terminal areas using required PPE.
