Irrigation & Water Systems Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Irrigation & Water Systems Estimator to support our landscape construction projects. This role combines estimating, system design, and technical planning, requiring a strong understanding of irrigation and hydraulic systems.

Unlike traditional estimating positions where designs are already provided, many of our projects begin with a blank landscape plan. As such, the successful candidate must be capable of designing irrigation systems, developing layouts, calculating water requirements, and preparing accurate cost estimates based on project specifications and site requirements.

This is a highly technical role suited to someone with hands-on experience in irrigation design, hydraulic calculations, and construction estimating.

• Design irrigation systems from landscape and site plans.
• Develop efficient irrigation layouts, pipe networks, zoning plans, and equipment schedules.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to determine system performance and water requirements.
• Select appropriate irrigation products, components, valves, pumps, controllers, and fittings.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, local standards, and best practices.

• Review landscape drawings, tender documents, and project specifications.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for irrigation and water infrastructure works.
• Calculate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Obtain and assess supplier pricing and quotations.
• Produce accurate tender submissions and project budgets.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving recommendations.

• Create and update irrigation drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.
• Prepare bill of quantities (BOQs), costing schedules, and estimating reports.
• Maintain pricing databases and estimating templates.
• Support project teams with technical information during pre-construction and delivery phases.

• Work closely with project managers, landscape designers, and construction teams.
• Provide technical input during bid reviews and project planning.
• Assist in resolving design and constructability issues when required.

• Proven experience in irrigation and hydraulic system design and estimation.
• Strong understanding of irrigation systems, water distribution networks, and hydraulic principles.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to design irrigation systems from concept plans or blank landscape drawings.
• Experience preparing detailed quantity take-offs and construction estimates.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Background in landscape construction, civil works, irrigation contracting, or water infrastructure projects.
• Experience with tendering and contract pricing.
• Familiarity with irrigation products and suppliers.
• Knowledge of pumps, filtration systems, controllers, valves, and water management solutions.
