Mental Health Technician-Full Time Days/Evenings

Job Summary:

The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the public and co-workers.

• →Required to have one of the following:            

• →
  • →Associates degree in Human Services-Mental Health or other behavioral science discipline.
  • →Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program including but not limited to Social Work, Nursing, Recreational Therapy and Psychology.
  • →Minimum of 1 year of mental health or related healthcare experience, for example, as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

• →Ability to interact with psychiatric patients in various stages of illness
• →Ability to participate in performance improvement activities
• →CPR (AHA BLS Provider) required at hire
• →CPI required within 90 days

Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards: Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals. Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
