Oglethorpe Power is seeking an experienced Maintenance Coordinator to support the Chattahoochee Energy Facility, a combined-cycle generating plant in Franklin, Georgia.
This is an opportunity for a power-generation maintenance professional who enjoys bringing order to complex work: translating maintenance needs into executable plans, aligning people and resources, and helping a facility operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will be central to planning and coordinating maintenance for two combustion turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators, one steam turbine generator, and their associated auxiliary equipment.
Responsibilities
~2 min readAs Maintenance Coordinator, you will own the planning and coordination needed to move maintenance work from request to safe, well-prepared execution and completion. Your work will include:
- →
Planning preventive, predictive, corrective, and special-project maintenance activities.
- →
Conducting field walkdowns to understand work scope, clarify needs with requestors, and identify safety hazards or potential execution issues.
- →
Developing work plans, including labor estimates, craft requirements, materials, tools, rental equipment, contractor support, and expected duration.
- →
Maintaining maintenance backlogs and developing weekly and four-week projected schedules that align work with available plant resources.
- →
Ensuring labor, materials, tools, equipment, and contractor resources are ready before work is scheduled.
- →
Coordinating closely with Plant Operations and Maintenance leadership, craft personnel, outage coordinators, contractors, and other support teams to resolve planning and scheduling needs.
- →
Supporting outage planning, including outage personnel schedules and schedule-change tracking.
- →
Managing work orders through completion in Maximo and ensuring repair history, downtime, labor, materials, costs, and other required details are accurately documented.
- →
Reviewing maintenance KPIs and performance data to identify ways to improve planning, scheduling, work execution, and plant performance.
- →
Administering the facility's Conduct of Maintenance Program, facilitating post-work critiques, and turning lessons learned into better future maintenance practices.
- →
Supporting budget and scope control, self-assessments, risk assessments, action-item tracking, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- →
Helping ensure compliance with OPC safety policies and procedures, mandatory electric reliability standards, and applicable FERC, EPA, EPD, OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
-
Eight years of outage maintenance and management experience in an operating commercial electric power-generating plant is preferred.
-
Experience using a computerized maintenance management system; Maximo experience is strongly preferred.
-
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
We also welcome candidates whose directly related experience provides equivalent preparation for the role, including:
-
A two-year technical degree plus ten years of directly related maintenance and management experience in an electric power plant environment; or
-
Twelve years of directly related maintenance and management experience in an electric power plant environment.
Relevant technical education, industrial training, certifications, military training, and related industrial or military leadership experience will be considered when evaluating equivalent experience.
This is a plant-based role requiring regular field presence in an active power-generation environment. The successful candidate must be able to safely access work areas that may include stairs, scaffolding, heights, confined spaces, areas near or over water, and locations near high-voltage equipment.
The role requires the ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, and may involve lifting or carrying up to 75 pounds of tools, equipment, or materials.
Because the facility operates around the clock, this position may require work outside normal business hours, including support during forced outages, planned maintenance outages, and plant meetings. The Maintenance Coordinator is also part of a 24-hour call response for events affecting generation operations, rating, or reliability. Travel is approximately 30%.
At Oglethorpe Power, the work you do helps provide reliable, affordable energy for millions of Georgians. You'll join a team that values safety, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement-while making a direct impact on the reliability of a critical generation asset.
