Our client operates over 90 laundromats across ten U.S. states, offering self-service laundry, wash-dry-fold, and related services. As a cash-intensive, multi-location business, operations rely on centralized digital systems that track card issuance, point-of-sale orders, cash reconciliation, machine starts, and over 2,500 security cameras.
They are hiring a Loss Prevention Investigative Analyst to join their Loss Prevention & Security team. This role reviews transactional data, card logs, cash reports, and video surveillance to identify loss patterns, conduct remote investigations, and build documented case files for management action or law enforcement referral.
The Loss Prevention Investigative Analyst is an analytical and investigative position focused on discovering data discrepancies, identifying fraud or operational failures, and assembling comprehensive evidence packages.
Approximately 40% of the role involves data reconciliation and exception monitoring, 30% on video surveillance review and evidence preservation, and 30% on case file documentation, narrative report writing, and field coordination.
This includes:
- Reconciling store payment system exceptions against reported sales and card redemption logs
- Reviewing cash reconciliation reporting to identify and quantify cash gaps versus process errors
- Auditing store surveillance footage to investigate flagged transaction exceptions or field incidents
- Exporting, logging, and preserving video evidence while maintaining chain of custody
- Compiling investigative findings into structured case files and written narratives
- Partnering with field managers to gather operational context around specific machine or shift anomalies
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Investigate payment system exceptions, service card usage, and mobile fund redemptions against order records and customer complaint logs.
- Monitor employee laundry benefit utilization to ensure compliance with store policies.
- Audit cash reconciliation reports, analyze variances, and categorize discrepancies as process errors or suspected theft.
- Track lost, broken, and stolen card trends across all store locations over time.
- Review video surveillance footage to corroborate transaction anomalies and field incident reports.
- Audit camera counts, recorder uptime, and footage retention schedules across all store locations; escalate hardware or connection faults to IT/maintenance.
- Locate, export, and securely store video footage for legal holds, insurance claims, or internal investigations while maintaining chain of custody logs.
- Draft clear, objective case narratives detailing investigative findings, evidence summaries, and financial loss metrics suitable for senior management, insurers, or legal counsel.
- Maintain incident logs, store watch lists, and audit action item tracking files.
- Prepare audit packages and video evidence for store audits led by the Loss Prevention Director.
- Leverage everyday AI tools to summarize long records, draft written findings, and accelerate routine data analysis.
Requirements
~1 min read- 2+ years of experience in an analytical role (such as internal audit, fraud review, financial analysis, or loss prevention) focused on investigating data variances.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with proven ability to reconcile multi-source data sets line-by-line across tens of thousands of records.
- Demonstrated ability to write formal investigative reports or structured narratives in clear, professional English.
- Experience utilizing everyday AI productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to summarize records and assist with drafting report narratives.
- Practical familiarity with video surveillance software, POS transaction logs, or stored-value payment card systems.
- Ability to work full-time during U.S. Eastern Time (EST) business hours.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Direct experience in retail loss prevention, asset protection, or internal corporate fraud investigations.
- Experience reviewing video surveillance as formal evidence and maintaining evidentiary chain-of-custody logs.
- Exposure to case management software or audit logging tools.

- Advanced pattern recognition: identifies recurring trends within scattered data points.
- Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential employee and financial data.
- Clear verbal and written communication when interviewing field staff or store managers.
- Strong self-direction and ability to work a defined audit cycle independently.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented analyst who enjoys digging into complex data, cross-referencing transaction records against camera footage, and telling the story behind the numbers. You take pride in maintaining strict evidence standards, writing clean investigative reports, and separating noise from genuine loss risks.
This role directly protects company profitability and operational integrity by uncovering systemic loss patterns, verifying cash controls, and providing senior leadership with actionable, evidence-backed case files across 90+ retail locations.
