This position is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional leadership and communication skills, and takes pride in maintaining strong tenant relationships and high-performing commercial properties.

The Commercial Property Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of an assigned portfolio of commercial properties, including retail plazas, storefronts, and office spaces. This individual will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining exceptional property standards, supporting leasing initiatives, and protecting the overall value of our assets. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities, anticipates challenges before they arise, and consistently delivers results with professionalism and accountability.

This role offers an opportunity to build a long-term career with continued advancement into senior property management, portfolio leadership, and beyond, based on performance and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Property Operations & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee daily operations of an assigned portfolio of commercial properties throughout Columbus, Marysville, Delaware, Johnstown, Dover, New Philadelphia, and surrounding markets.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure properties maintain excellent curb appeal, cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation.
  • Identify maintenance concerns, capital improvement opportunities, and operational inefficiencies while proactively coordinating resolutions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel, contractors, vendors, and project management teams to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Monitor property performance, operating expenses, and ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Ensure properties are maintained in accordance with company standards, applicable regulations, and lease obligations.
  • Prioritize competing operational needs while maintaining organization, accountability, and consistent follow-through.

Tenant Relations & Lease Administration

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial tenants, providing exceptional customer service and professional communication.
  • Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with tenants while consistently enforcing lease requirements.
  • Review and administer commercial lease agreements, including tenant obligations, maintenance responsibilities, renewals, and compliance requirements.
  • Address tenant concerns, disputes, and service requests promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate lease renewals, amendments, expirations, and other lease-related documentation.
  • Monitor tenant compliance with lease terms, property rules, signage requirements, and maintenance obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tenant communications, lease documentation, and property activity.

Leasing, Marketing & Business Development

  • Collaborate with the commercial leasing team to maximize occupancy and minimize vacancies.
  • Support leasing initiatives, prospective tenant communications, property tours, and lease negotiations as needed.
  • Ensure available commercial spaces are properly presented, marketed, and maintained to attract qualified businesses.
  • Monitor upcoming lease expirations and proactively identify opportunities for renewals and tenant retention.
  • Identify opportunities to improve property performance, enhance tenant satisfaction, and strengthen long-term occupancy.
  • Assist with marketing strategies, property listings, signage, and promotional initiatives.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Monitor rent collections, tenant account balances, delinquency, and outstanding financial obligations.
  • Review property operating expenses, vendor invoices, and service costs for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with budgeting, expense management, and financial performance reporting.
  • Maintain organized and accurate property records, vendor documentation, lease files, and operational reports.
  • Track key property performance indicators and provide timely updates to company leadership.
  • Demonstrate strong financial awareness and make decisions that support the profitability and long-term value of the portfolio.

Vendor & Project Coordination

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with contractors, service providers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and property improvement projects.
  • Monitor vendor performance, service quality, timelines, and completion standards.
  • Obtain and evaluate proposals for property services and repairs when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal maintenance and project management teams to ensure operational needs are addressed efficiently.

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Confident and professional when communicating with tenants, business owners, vendors, and company leadership.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, operational priorities, and multiple properties simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate documentation and timely follow-through.
  • Ability to make sound decisions independently while remaining accountable to company objectives.
  • Comfortable handling difficult conversations, enforcing lease requirements, and resolving tenant concerns.
  • Proficient with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and general property management software.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working within a growing organization.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, as regular travel between properties is an essential function of this role.

Compensation & Additional Opportunities

  • Annual Salary: $65,000–$75,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Mileage Reimbursement: Business-related mileage reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
  • Company Vehicle Eligibility: Following 90 days of employment, individuals with a satisfactory driving history may be considered for company vehicle privileges. Eligibility does not guarantee vehicle assignment or use.
  • Performance Bonuses: Quarterly bonus opportunities may become available following one year of service, or earlier at management's discretion. Bonuses are discretionary and not guaranteed.
  • Career Advancement: Opportunities for continued professional development and advancement into senior property management, portfolio oversight, and future leadership positions based on demonstrated performance, skill development, and organizational needs.

At Mason Equity Group, we believe in developing talent from within and creating opportunities for individuals who consistently demonstrate initiative, accountability, and strong performance. We are seeking someone who wants more than a position managing properties. We want a professional who is interested in taking ownership of a portfolio, contributing to operational improvements, developing leadership capabilities, and growing alongside our organization.

As our commercial portfolio continues to expand, opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement may become available to individuals who demonstrate the skills, professionalism, and results necessary to succeed.
